where they will be employed

Mrs. Annie Struthers of Pine-
crest Manor visited on Sunday
with her daughter, Mrs. Hugh
Simpson and Mr. Simpson and

Last week Mrs. Lawrence
Taylor and Mrs, Len Coyne of
Windsor met in London. Miss
Joyce Taylor returned to Wind-
sor with Mrs. Coyne for holi-
days and Miss Sharon Coyne re-
turned home with Mrs. Taylor.

Church will hold its Sunday
School picnic on July 17 at the
end of the 12th Con. on the
shore of Lake Huron. All are
requested to gather around 2
o'clock.
Mrs. George Fisher, who is
attending a summer course at
Stratford, spent the week -end
at her home.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Hogan
of Don Mills and Mr. and Mrs.
Stanley Black of Belgrave visit-
ed Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs.
Leroy Rintoul.
Mr. George Coultes was ad-
mitted on the week -end to
Wingham & District Hospital.
Mrs. R,eta Turner of Aurora
visited Wednesday and Thurs-
day with Mrs. Albert McQuil-
lan and with Mrs. Olive Boss of
Wingham and left on Friday
evening for a week's visit with
her nephew, Mr. Alex Smith,
public school inspector living
at Owen Sound.
Mr.Arthur Moore on Wed-
nesday joined Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Dickson on a motor tour to the
west. Their first stop over
would be at Sudbury, visiting
with Mr.and Mrs. Charles
Moore and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Evans
and family of Hamilton spent
the week -end with his parents,
Mr.and Mrs. Bill Evans of Lang -
side.
On Saturday Whitechurch
W.I.members will be hostesses
for the afternoon at the Log
Cabin, at Southampton Mu-
seum.

and family attended a reunion
in Seaforth Park on Sunday. Al, -

Stratford. Mrs.Jeffray, Mrs.
Wood, and Mrs. Worden attend-
ed Teachers' College together
and hold this reunion each year.
The Hohnstein girls returned
home last Tuesday after spend-
ing a week's holiday with their
sister, Mrs. Don Poole, and Mr.
Poole, at Kitchener.
Now that school is out birth-
day parties have been the order
of the day, Christopher Steven
and Gilbert Johann were the
celebrants last week, with a
number of their neighborhood
pals joining in the festivities.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dickson
and Mrs, Dickson's father, Mt.
Moore of Whitechurch,, left
last week on a vacation to the
Prairie Provinces, Miss Jean
Hohnstein is staying with the
Dickson children in the village.
Mrs. Scott Inglis of Carrick
Township had the misfortune
to fall in her home Thursday
evening of last week. She is
now a patient in London's Vic-
toria Hospital, suffering from a
fractured hip. Mr.and Mrs,
Robert Inglis visited her there
on Sunday.
Miss Dorothy Hohnstein left
on Friday of last'week for Port
Elgin, where she has secured
summer employment.

are on their way to the Carib-

Wingham, is spending a few

Miss Helen Gibson, Toronto,
has returned home after spend-
ing a few days here with her
sister, Mrs. A. Wearing.
Constable Melville Greig of
Leamington visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Leslie Douglas during
the week. Melville will be
well remembered as he lived
here a few years ago. His
friends will wish him the best
in his chosen profession.

nipeg was a recent visitor with
Misses Elsie and Marion Gibson.

Sharon of Calgary, are visiting

Injured -Man
Has Pneumonia
WHITECHURCH-Ray Huff-
man of the Langside area,
while engaged in construction
work at the veneer plant at
. Durham, received a nasty gash
in his leg last Tuesday.
The mishap occurred when
a skill saw slipped, He was ta-
ken to Durham Hospital where
the wound was closed with 120
stitches.
Since Mr.Iluffman has been
in hospital he has developed
pneumonia.

Maxwell quietly celebrated his
95th birthday on July .Lith at
the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Robert McDonald of Jamestown.
Mr. Maxwell is enjoying fair
health,

Sask., Clifford and Earl of
Langton and two daughters; Mrs,
William (Aileen) Parks of Lon-

left by plane for France, where
she will attend the University
at Tours for a month and also
spend a month touring Scotland.

Leroy Rintoul attended the
Wightman reunion on Sunday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan
Wightman, East Wawanosh.
Over 70 attended.

GORRIE-On Sunday about
120 descendants of the late Mr.
and Mrs. William Joseph Hub-
bard gathered at Gorrie Park
for an enjoyable afternoon of
sports, conducted by Mr. and
Mrs. Utly Wells and Mr. and
Mrs. Ivan Reis.
The evening meal was ser-
ved at five. Mr. and Mrs. Ro-
bert Allan and Mr.and Mrs.
Oliver Jacques served tea, cof-
fee and freshie.
Robert llarkness of Clifford
presided for the business when
Telford Reis gave a report of
the first such family gathering,
held last year. Next year's re-
union will be held in Gorrie
Park the second Sunday of
July.
Members of the family at-
tended from Kippen,Clifford,
Meibourne, Picton, Itarriston,
Wingharn, Walkerton, Hanover,
Neustadt, St. Marys and Gorrie,
Mr, and Mrs. Ken Bratton and

African Speaker
Heard at Two
United Churches
BELMORE-Service was can-
celled in the Belmore United
Church on Sunday morning in
order that members of the con-
gregation could attend Mildmay
United Church at 17, a, m. and
7.30 p, m. service in the Mc-
Intosh Church,
Guest speaker on both occa-
sions was Joseph Nxumalo, an
African from Swaziland, South
Africa, and a medical student
at Toronto University. Mr.
Nxumalo spoke of his life in
Africa and the problems facing
his people. He told of the
great gap that has existed be-
tween the races for so many
years, and said we must over-
come the prejudice and correct
the wrongs that have been com-
mitted, by developing a deep
and sincere love for our bro-
thers.
Father Dies
In Listowel
Funeral service was conduct-
ed Monday for Henry Sage, 83,
of Listowel, who died in Lis-
towel Hospital Saturday. Rev.
David Crawford, minister of
Knox Presbyterian Church, offi-
ciated for the service,at the
McLaughlin and Reed funeral
home. Interment was in Elma
Centre cemetery.
Surviving are six sons, Rich-
ard Sage of Grafton, Herbert
and Robert of Atwood, Lloyd
and Boyne of Listowel and Roy
in Milverton; three daughters,
Mrs. Jessie Koch of Wroxeter,
Mrs. Lome (Helen) Matthews
of Preston and Mrs. Samuel
(Elizabeth) Attridge of St.
Catharines; two brothers, James
of Toronto and Walter in Brus-
sels; four sisters, Mrs. Edward
(Maggie) Faulhafer of New
Hamburg, Mrs. Isaac (Emma)
Henry of Milverton, Mrs. Ro-
bert (Nell) Attridge of Leth-
bridge, Alta., and Mrs. Fred
(Effie) Milne in Kitchener; 19
grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.
