Cubs Spend Day
At Goderich
The Cubs from the Blue
Sixes of A and B packs with
their leaders, Hugh Sinnamon,
Don Rintoul and Murray Friden-
burg, motored to Goderich on
Saturday where they visited
points of interest.
At Sky Harbour Airport they
saw many planes, both old and
newer models, and thoroughly
inspected the Lanc bomber.
The highlight of the visit was
their interview with Polly, a
75 -year-old parrot, the mast-
cot
as-cot of the airport.
The boys enjoyed a boat
ride around Goderich Harbour
and after lunch visited the Hu-
ron County Museum. They
were very interested in the ex-
hibits there and noted that
many items came from Wing -
ham and district.
The group then motored to
Bruce Beach where they were
guests at the cottage of Dawson
Pollock and enjoyed a swim
and wiener roast.
Arriving home about 8 p.m.
all Cubs and the leaders,
though tired, had spent a hap-
py day.

SATURDAY, JULY 10th
One of the past few summers'
highlights to be seen on CBC
Television, has been "Mystery
Theatre", a series of hour-long
nerve -tingling dramas starring
some of the top names in mo-
vies and television. It began
last week, its first episode re-
placing "Show of the Week" on
Monday evening, but will be
seen during the remainder of
the season in the 9.30 Wednes-
day 'Festival' time slot, begin-
ning on July 7th. The opening
play, "Doesn't Anyone Know
My Name", starred Gomel
Wilde, Kathryn Crosby, and
Martha Hyer in the story of an
amnesia victim.
The list of guest stars for
subsequent weeks is equally
impressive. On July 7, two
young stars, Diane McBain and
Scott Marlowe will star in "My
Enemy, This Town", the story
of a paroled convict who re-
turns to his home town and the
people whose testimony convic-
ted him. On the 14th, Richard
Crenna and James Whitmore
star in "The Long Lost Life of
Edward Smalley", the story of
a discharged army veteran.
Additional stories are "A Cause
of Anger" starring Brian Keith,
Nancy Malone, and Audrey
Totter (July 21st); "Knight's
Gambit" with Roger Smith,
Eleanor Parker and Chester Mor-
ris, on the 28th; "Portrait of an
Unknown Man" starring Clint
Walker and Mala Powers on
August 4th; Beverly Garland
and Richard Kiley in "Charlie,
He Couldn't Kill a Fly" on
August 18th; Julie Harris in
"The Robrioz Ring" on Septem-
ber 1st; and Nina Foch, Gig
Young and the late Peter Lorre
in "The End of the World,
Baby", to be seen September
22nd.

The month of June has end-
ed, and for Hollywood it was a
sad month. The only happy
news reaching our ears were
one or two weddings and they
were nothing to write home
about!
Sybil Burton, 36 -year-old
ex-wife of Bonnie Wee Richard,
became a bride for the second
time when she married Jordan
Christopher in New York. The
groom is a 24 -year-old rock
and roll singer who looks like a
Beatle reject and leads a group
called The Wild Ones. She met
him when she hired his group to
play in her New York Club call -

ed "Arthur", of all things! Inci-
dentally, Richard played King
Arthur in the Broadway musical
"Camelot". Wonder if there's
any connection!
At any rate, Jordan is about
as different from Richard as he
could be and is certainly intro-
ducing Sybil to an entirely new
brand of culture! This may be
a good thing as there were some
issues on which she and Dickie
Boy could not seem to agree.

Everyone yawned and said
'Ho-hum' when Lana Turner
landed her latest, and sixth,
husband. This kind of news be-
comes routine! He is a 34 -
year -old California business-
man, Robert Eaton, who is
taking his first leap into the
seas of matrimony. She is a
gorgeous 44, but could pass for
half that.

Unfortunately, this was the
limit of Hollywood's happy
news last month. The deaths of
some of her most prominent
people brought sadness to the
many premieres and gala
events that are so prevalent at
this time of the year.
One of her greatest produc-
ers, David O. Selznick, died
at the age of 63 after suffering
a heart attack. Automatically,
his name is synonymous with
the greatest movie ever made,
"Gone with the Wind" which
he produced in the early fortie4
introducing a new star Vivien
Leigh. Other masterpieces
which he made were "Inter-
mezzo" with Cary Grant and
Ingred Bergman; "Rebecca"
with Joan Fontaine and Sir
Laurence Olivier; "A Star Is
Born" with Judy Garland and
James Mason; and "A Farewell
to Arms" with his wife Jennifer
Jones. He was also responsible
for bringing to the screen such
classics as "David Copperfield",
"Little Women", "Tom Sawyer,
"A Tale of Two Cities", and
"Anna Karenina". But he will
always be best remembered for
"Gone with the Wind".

The body of actor Steve
Cochrane was found on board
his boat near Guatemala last
week. He had died 12 days
earlier of a lung infection.
Cochrane, who was 48, was
the ruggedly handsome type
who was often cast in gangster
roles.
THE CUB SOAP BOX DERBY last week was a wide-open
affair. In the first heat were Stephen Tiffin, Terry Reid
and Daryl McClure. The latter won the event, but then
his dad is a car dealer, so he may have had a few odds.
