A large number of Belmore area friends attended the gar- den party and supper held in the McIntosh Church basement on Wednesday evening of last week. Miss Carolyn Beatty of Ham- ilton spent a week's vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Orval Camer- on and family. At a meeting held last week, it was decided that Belmore and McIntosh United Churches would hold their inter-denorn- inational Vacation Bible School from July 26 to July 30, in the McIntosh Church. Mrs. Walter Watson, Bob and Donald of Ottawa, spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Alan Darling and family. Bob remained to spend some time with the Dar- ling family. Mrs. Watson's mo- ther, Mrs. Arthur Poste of Fer- gus, spent the same day with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zinn. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Johann, Gilbert and Steven, attended the Good-Zurbrigg family re- union held in the Kurtzville .I.h1YN.1.. Arena on Dominion Day. On Sunday, the Johanns visited with Mr, and Mrs. Wilfred Walk- er and family, near Belgrave. Rev. Stanley Keast, with his son and daughter, all of the U.S.A., spent a few days last week with Mrs. Isaac Stokes. On Sunday, he attended ser- vices in the Presbyterian Church and renewed many old ac- quaintances. Mr. and Mrs. Joe O'Connor and daughter of Whitby, spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kieffer and daughters, on the 2nd of Culross. Miss Doris Doubledee of Oakville and Mr. Murray At- more of Toronto spent the Dominion Day holiday at the former's home here. Mr. Bill Jeffray of Niagara Falls and Mr. Russell Press of Hamilton were week -end visit- ors at their homes in the area, Mr. Wilfred Lynet, who is now a patient in Freeport Hos- pital, Kitchener, spent the week -end on the 2nd of Culross where he visited with family and friends. Service commemorating Dominion Day was held in the Presbyterian Church on Sunday. The Junior choir sang "Lord of Wroxeter Personals Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Weir, Calvin and Karen of Etobicoke spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. George Gibson, Mrs. W. Weir and Miss Gertrude Bush. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ashby and Roger, Kitchener, visited one day last week with Mr. Jack Milligan. Mr. and Mrs. Carman Nixon, Grant and Lori, Scarborough, were Wednesday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Fraser Haugh. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Smith visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smiths at Strathroy on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barnard, London, were week -end guests with Mr. and' Mrs. Harry Adams. Relatives from this vicinity who attended the trousseau tea for Miss Nancy Johnston at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnston, Blyth, were Mrs. Edgar Dane, Myra and Laurel, Mrs. Lloyd Jacques, all of Howick, Miss Nancy Jacques of Kitchener, Mrs. George Gibson and Glenis, Mrs. W. Weir and Miss Gertrude Bush of Wroxeter. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mont- gomery were at their summer home here for the week -end and Mrs. Montgomery remained for the summer months. Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Mr. and Mrs. William Coul- ter, Guelph, spent a few days at their home here. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Smith were in London for the week- end where they visited friends. Guest speaker at both services will be Mr. Joseph Nxumaio, an African from Swaziland, South Africa, and a medical student at the University of Toronto. Mrs. Charles O'Malley of the 2nd, is taking a six -weeks' summer course in the new mathematics, in Toronto, She began her classes on Monday of this week. BIRTH JOHNSON -In Clinton Hos- pital, on Friday, July 2nd, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson of Londesboro, formerly Dorothy McNee of Belmore, twin dau- ghters, sisters for Earl, grand- daughters for Mr. Earl McNee of the village. LAKELET The annual garden party which was held at McIntosh United Church last Wednesday was a fine success with an at- tendance of 440. Organ and piano music was enjoyed in the church auditorium by those waiting to be served. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Murray and Judith Anne visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Giles of London on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Inglis and children enjoyed a visit at Port Elgin beach on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ferguson, Lois and Lynn visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Douglas, of Belmore, on Sun- day. Picnic at Seaforfh Park An afternoon of swimming, ball and sports was enjoyed by the Sunday School of Wingham Baptist Church at the Lions Park in Seaforth on June 26. Girls 5 to 6, Heather Currie; Barbara McNair; Nancy Darling. Boys 5 to 6, Michael Dingman; U.C.W. Holds June Meeting WROXETER-The Friendship Unit of the U.C. W. , United Church, held the June meeting in the home of Mrs. Archie Miller. Mrs. Miller presided and gave the call to worship presenting the theme "Courage' followed by prayer. Mrs. J. Doig was the pianist for the meeting. Mrs. M. Wearing read the Scripture. Mrs. Harvey Timm gave a resume of "God in the Church" taken from God and His Purpose. The minutes of the May meeting were read by Mrs. Howard Wylie, who also called the roll. The Friendship Unit will conduct the devotions at the next U.C. W. on August 4. The bazaar to be held in October was given some consideration. A satisfactory financial state- ment for the unit was given by Mrs. Stewart Higgins. Mrs. Millar gave a reading, "Butterflies". The meeting ad- journed and lunch was served by the conveners Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Timm and Mrs. Wearing. The next meeting will be held in September. Stanley Stapleton. T. "Doc" Cruick- shank was honored by the Salvation Army on Tuesday at an informal dinner meeting when he was presented with a plaque bear- ing an inscription which read: "Award of Appreciation for Signal Service."' The plaque was presented by Captain K. Even - den, of Toronto, producer of the S.A. pro- gram "Living Word." Mr. Cruickshank, president of the S. A.
