Chalmers WMS Hostess
WHITECHURCH-The W.M.
S. of Chalmers Presbyterian
Church held its June meeting
last Wednesday at the home of
Mrs. Johnston Conn. The presi-
dent, Mrs. Victor Emerson open-
ed the meeting with a verse,
"Seed Time" and a hymn was
sung.
The leader, Mrs. Frank
Coulter read Scripture and gave
the meditation, assuring mem-
bers they are all "God's seed •
and he knoweth of what each
has need." As servants of God
people should be alert and ever
ready to assist in His work.
Mrs. Wallace Conn gave a read-
ing, "A Package of Seeds".
The Glad Tidings prayer was
given by Mrs. Robert Ross.
The topic, "Sermons in
Trees" was given by Mrs. Wal-
ter Elliott. She said a tree is a
sermon full of mystery and
wonder. Trees furnish heat for
homes, shade from sun, supports
for homes, boards for tables and
the beds in which we lie. It
was by a tree that the Lord
symbolized His promised in-
dwelling in the souls of His
people --"I am the vine, ye
are the branches." The last
chapter in the Holy Word pic-
tures the Tree of Life with its
fruits in the heavenly world and
its leaves for the healing of na-
tions.
Mrs. Emerson led in prayer
for the sick of the community
and gave the offertcry prayer.
Mrs. Donald Watt led in prayer
for rain. It was announced that
the July meeting will be held
in the church with the Children
of the Church providing the
program.
The minutes were read by
Mrs. Russel Ross and arrange-
ments were made for floral de-
corations for the church during
the summer.
The Ladies' Aid meeting
followed when arrangements
were made for a bale quilt.
Lunch was served by the
hostess and Missionary Society
publications that are for sale
were on display.
