Included in the exhibit were nine quilts, one of which is over 100 years old. Dishes, cro- chet work, a beaded pincushion and a variety of other articles completed the display. I. hall on Thursday. Scripture was read by Mrs, Gordon Wright. Nineteen mem- bers responded to the roll call which was, "Name a book or magazine which you would re- commend". During the business it was learned that plans are being made for a bus trip. A commit- tee ommittee was appointed to prepare an exhibit at the historical meeting. Members were thank- ed for the collection of mater- ial to be given to Ontario Hos- pital, Goderich. A report was given by Mrs. Lyle Murray on the district an- nual, held at Molesworth, and Mrs. Emerson Ferguson, convert- er of education, presented the motto, "The child has four teachers, the home, the school, the church and the community". Mrs. Robert Wood introduced Mr.and Mrs. Wray Cooper of Fordwich, who showed their films taken during a trip to Europe. They were thanked by Mrs. Lloyd Jacques. Lunch was served by the committee in charge. Paper Drive GORRIE-The Gorrie- Wroxe- ter Boy Scouts and Cubs col- lected 12-3/4 tons of used pa- per. They realized $52.00 for their efforts. The collection this year was up three and three quarter tons over last year's drive. Lig- gett and Mrs. Liggett, from Germany, and son Bill of King- ston and Mrs. Liggett Senior of Zelandia, Sask., visited with Mr. and Mrs. James Michie. They attended Bill's military graduation at Kingston on Fri- day and will stay over for his wedding in Ottawa on June 6. Wingham Advance -Times, Thursday, June 10, 1065 -Page 5 United Churches Join In Anniversary Service BELMORIJ-The 40th anni- versary of the United Church of Canada, the date of which is June 10th, was celebrated in McIntosh United Church on Sun- day morning. The congrega- tions of McIntosh and Belmore United Churches participated. Rev. Douglas L. Steven used as his text " .. , these forty years the Lord your God has been with you.,.", Deut. He spoke of the past forty years in the United Church, say- ing that in spite of inadequa- cies and failures, God has used and blessed the church. He told of events which led to Shooting Victim In London Hosp. LAKELET-Mrs. Levi Byer and Mrs. Donald Cober express true concern for the victim of a shooting accident of last Wednesday evening, who is a member of their Sunday School at Fordwich Brethren in Christ Church. He is Donald Winger, the sixteen -year-old son of Mrs. Leota Winger of the New- bridge area. Details of the incident are unknown. He is in an uncons- cious condition in Victoria Hos- pital, London. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zinn were Tuesday evening visitors at the Eldred Nichol home in Wingham. Miss Nancy Ballagh was guest of honor at a birthday party held on Wednesday. Many of her school pals attended. Rev. D. L. Steven of the United Church attended the Hamilton Conference, held at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, last week. Mr. Alan Darling attended the ordination services on Thursday evening, as part of a delegation from the McIntosh-Belmore charge. Mrs. Herb Busby left near the end of the week for the Red Feather Camp at Bolton, where she is assisting for the summer months. There will be no Sunday service at the Belmore:Presby- terian Church this week, due to anniversary services at the sister church in Bluevale. Rev. Douglas Fry of Seaforth will be the guest speaker. Mr.and Mrs. Wilfred Johann, Gilbert and Steven, were guests at the Shatto-Emke wedding in Elmwood on Friday evening. The Johanns were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Douglas and family at Atwood. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Abra- ham were Sunday evening din- ner guests of Mr. and Mrs.Nor- man Harding of Fordwich.
