COURSE OFFICIALLY OPEN—Monday saw
the official opening of the local golf course,
although play has been going on for some
time. There"was a morning tourney for
men and a mixed event in the afternoon.
The course is in fine shape and the lovely
weather brought out a large number of
golfers over the week -end. Jack Hayes, of
Wingham, with Les Shaw, of Toronto, and
Jack Sturdy, of Wingham, are pictured
as they came in the 9th during the
tourney.
Goodyears Open Season
Tonight -- Clip Schedule
The Wingharn Brophy Good -
years will open the season at
home tonight (Thursday) against
the Clinton RCAF team. They
will play a triple schedule •
against Clinton, Belgrave and
Clinton RCAF and a double
schedule against Whitechurch
and Lucknow.

Pupils Take Bus
Trip to Toronto
WHITECHURCH-On Thurs-
day S. S. No. 9 East Wawanosh
enjoyed their bus trip to Toron-
to, under the supervision of
their teacher, Mrs. Garniss, and
S.S. No. 7 East Wawanosh pu-
pils were supervised by their
teacher, Mrs, Gordon Bosman.
The mothers and other ladies
in the community accompanied
them.
The buses met at Brampton
and toured together Fort York,
the Zoo, the International Air-
port, Riverdale Park, and sat in
for half an hour on a session of
Parliament which had been ar-
ranged by Murray Gaunt, M. L,
A. Grades 6,7 and 8 took in
the session while the junior
grades were entertained at the
museum across the street. After
the session in Parliament Mr.
Gaunt also arranged for the pu-
pils to have a box lunch in the
committee room and to be
shown around the grounds by a
guide.
The pupils and mothers ex-
tend their thanks to Mr. Gaunt
for his thoughtfulness in provid-
ing the educational entertain-
ment and treats for them.
Bowlers Open
New Season
The Lawn Bowling Club
opened last Wednesday after-
noon and played two games in
the afternoon and one in the
evening. A delicious pot luck
supper was served at the club
house at six o'clock. Many
new bowlers attended and any
who would like to try the game
will be welcome.
Mrs. Lloyd Elliott, the presi-
dent, welcomed the members
and guests and informed them
that the first interclub game
with Teeswater and Lucknow
will be held here Thursday
evening, starting at 7,30,
The club house has been
enhanced with a new coat of
paint and the greens are in ex-
cellent condition.

Two men were discussing
the work of a renowned artist.
"He painted a spider's web
on the wall which was so real-
istic that the maid spent two
hours trying to wipe it down,"
said the first,
"That's too fantastic to be-
lieve," replied the second.
"But artists do things like
that," insisted the first.
"Maybe so, " conceded the
second, "but maids don't."
Last Meeting
Until Fall
BELGRAVE-The last regular
meeting of the C. G. I. T. was
held on Wednesday in the
church school. The president,
Wendy Fear opened the meet-
ing and minutes were read by
Audrey Coultes. Church and
Sunday school attendance were
recorded. Plans were made for
the tea to be held on Saturday
and for the banquet on .lune 16
at 7.00 o'clock. A discussion
was held on entertainment and
decorations.
Mrs. Arthur Jackson led in
the continued Bible study from
Ephesians. Nancy Mason was
in charge of the worship, assist-
ed by Brenda VanCatnp. The
Scripture was read by Brenda
followed by meditation by
Nancy and prayer. "Now the
Day Is Over" and Taps closed
the meeting.
