TRACK AND FIELD
On Tuesday of last week the
first track and field meet in
four years was held at the school.
Since it was compulsory for
physical education, students
had to enter an event, if they
wanted to pass. There were
large numbers of students enter-
ed in each event. The teachers
also took part, in managing the
events and determining the win-
ners.
! Diane Groves was the champ-
ion for junior girls. Diane was
first in high jump, running
broad jump, standing broad
jump and softball throw.
The senior girls' champion
was Sigberta deBruyn. She was
irst in the running broad jump.

Last week the June examina-
tion timetable was posted. This
hot weather makes everyone
look forward to finishing anoth-
et year of school,
standing broad jump, 220 -yard
run and second in high jump,
Claiming the title in the
class for junior boys was Ray
Mathers, He was first in the
junior mile and the 880 and
third in the open two miles.
Intermediate boys' champ-
ion was Jim Whitfield with two
firsts, the running broad jump
and hop, step and jump, and
second in high jump.
Brian Sanderson and Jack
Galbraith tied for the senior
title. Jack was first in the 880,
the senior mile and the open
two miles. Brian topped all
others in the pole vault, the
running broad jump and the
hop, step and jump.

The cadets spent many hours
last week practising for the an-
nual inspection which was held
on Tuesday. Classes last Thurs-
day afternoon were shortened
and all of Friday's classes were
,shortened so that the boys
could prepare. The students
;will be glad now that they no
longer must wear the heavy
wool uniforms,

Boys from the senior grades
had a chance to learn about
agricultural college last Thurs-
day. They were addressed by
Mr. Willson, dean of students
at Western Agricultural School
