Crop Report
The week -end rain and
warmer temperatures have
greened -up the grass a little.
Farmers are busy tuning up
machinery, ordering seed sup-
plies and getting coarse grains
cleaned and treated. Most
livestock men will have a sur-
plus of roughage, but much of
it might still be needed if
temperatures remain below nor-
mal for any length of time.
Turnberry council
Held April Meeting
Reeve A. D. Smith presided
for the regular meeting of Turn -
berry Township Council on
April 3, when all members of
council were present.
Communications were re-
ceived from the Department of
Municipal Affairs, Department
of Highways, Department of
Agriculture and the Maitland
Valley Conservation Authority.
A grant of $10.00 was given
to the Huron County Historical
Society.
A motion was passed to re-
quest the Wroxeter Telephone
Co. to relocate the telephone
line on approximately two and
a half miles of boundary be-
tween Howick and Turnberry,
satisfactory to the road superin-
tendent and Howick Township.
The engineer's report on the
Hislop B drain was adopted and
the clerk instructed to prepare
and serve the necessary by-
laws.
The tender of Lionel Ma-
hood was accepted for spraying
cattle under the Warble Fly
Spraying Act at ten cents per
head for each spray.

A grant of $35,00 was made
to the Belgrave School Fair and
$10.00 to the Huron County
Historical Society at the Morris
Township Council meeting last
week. The rate for spraying
cattle was set at 10 cents per
head.

was accepted, subject to ap-
proval of the district munici-
pal engineer and consulting
engineer, for construction of
Stone School bridge for $65, -

Pass Motion to
Amalgamate
Morris School Board met
last Wednesday for routine busi-
ness and payment of accounts.
McCutcheon and Stewart
made a motion that the board
be on record as being in favor
of keeping the present Morris
School Area, intact and that
they invite the area of East Wa-
wanosh to amalgamate with
Morris so that the board would
be in a position to construct
central schools in Blyth, Brus-
sels and Belgrave. The motion
carried with G. McCutcheon, J.
Stewart, B. Elliott and C.
Haines voting for the motion
and J. Elston against.
Mrs. King will be asked to
prepare a weekly schedule of
music to be used in the class-
rooms of Brussels School.
The board will meet again
May 5 in S, S.8 Morris at 8:30
p.m., when teachers will be
present to inspect a display of
school supplies presented by
the Jack Hood Company.
