the home of Mrs. Arthur Jackson.
There were thirteen in attend-
ance, Mrs, Ronald Coultes gave
the call to worship and led in
prayer and Mrs. John Jami�sru
read Scripture.
Envy, represented by the col-
or green, was the meditation
given by Mrs. Ronald Coultes.
Mrs. Ken Mason conducted the
Bible study, "The Book That
Talks" . Mrs. Lawrence Taylor
gave the mission study on "Ed-
ucation in Trinidad".
Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft presi-
ded for the business. Mrs. John

Shower Gifts
WHITECHLiRCIE-A shower
was held for Mrs. Wolfgang Boel-
ke, the former Donna Hutchison,
in the Memorial Hall on Thurs-
day evening. Mrs. Boelke was
ushered to a beautifully decora-
ted chair for the occasion.
Mrs. George Fisher presided
for the program which included
a piano solo by Mrs. DanTiffin,
readings and several humorous
stories by Mrs. Victor Emerson,
a solo by Mrs. George Needham
of Pinkerton, accompanied by
Miss Edna Wall who also played
a piano solo,and duets by Mrs.
Ezra Scholtz and Mrs. Emma
Coffin, accompanied by Mrs.
Dan Tiffin. Several contests
were conducted.
Mrs. Fisher addressed the
bride. The gifts were presented
by Miss Wall and Miss Janet
Sleightholm and the recipient
was assisted in their opening by
Mrs. Needham and Mrs. Roy
Dawson, sister of the bride.
Phyllis Sleightholm and Mary
Lou Wall surprised Mrs. Boelke
by breaking a balloon filled
with confetti, which had been
placed above her chair.
The hostesses were Mrs. Ira
Wall, Mrs. Fish.er and Mrs.
Sleightholm, whose pictures
were taken with the bride by
her mother, Mrs. Robert Hutch-
ison.
The hostesses and the donors
of gifts were suitably thanked
by Mrs. Boelke.
Jamieson read the minutes, It
was announced that the society
will hold a hake sale in April
and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor was
appointed to find a place at
which the sale may be held.
A request tor the ladies to
knit mitts and sew pyjamas was
read from the Children's Aid
Society, tvlrs. llarry Cook, the
convener for community friend-
ship work, will look after this
project.
A guest from Trinidad will
be the speaker at a meeting the
last day of May. The annual
Presbyterial will be held March
24 in Seaforth and delegates
will be Mrs, Mason Robinson,
Mrs. Roy Pattison, Mrs. Murray
Shiell, Mrs. George McGee and
Mrs. Harry Cook.
Mrs. Robinson gave a reading
on Stewardship. The World Day
of Prayer will be observed on
March 7. Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft
announced that Huron Presbyter-
ial
resbyterial had the highest contribution
over and above the allocation
in the London Conference.
Safety Sisters
Hold Meeting
WHITECHt'RCH-The Safety
Sisters 4-H Club met at the
home of Mrs. Victor Emerson on
Tuesday evening. Miss Pamela
King presided.
Roll call was answered by
the nine girls with the name of
an article each intended to in-
clude in her safety kit. Miss
Donna Hand read the minutes.
Arrangements were made to at-
tend a meeting and films, to be
held in the Lucknow town hall
on Monday evening.
Discussions followed on keep-
ing fit, books to read, how to
spend time off and first aid kits.
Donna Hand and Diane Swan
demonstrated first aid measures
for a back injury involving
bleeding.
As the home assignment, the
members were asked to make a
list of ways to spend their time
off, take a book they have read
with a written comment, and
start a book pertaining to the
project. The roll call for the
next meeting will be, "A book
I would like to own".

Wednesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. James McInnes

ed the meeting with the call to

were read by Mrs.JohnstonConn.
A dialogue introducing the
new study hook, was given by
Mrs. Wesley 'Tiffin and Mrs.
James McInnes. Mrs. McInnes
led in prayer. A letter was read
by Mrs. tmerson from Ted Ellis,
a missionary in Taipei, Taiwan.
Mrs. We,lev Tiffin gave the Glad
Tidings prayer.
Mrs. Nle limes gave the first
chapter in the ,t,ldv book deal -

eondiieted two contests.
The minutes were read by
Secretary Mrs. Russel Ross and
the treasurer, Mrs.DawsonCraig
gave her report. Arrangements
were made for those taking part
in the World Day of Prayer,
being held March 5 in the Unit-
ed Church, when Mrs. D.S.
MacNaughton of Wingham will
be the guest speaker.
The offertory prayer was
given by Mrs. McInnes.
The Ladies' Aid meeting was
then held. The work committee
gave a report on the making of
a quilt and repairs needed at
the manse were discussed. The
collection was received and
Mrs. Emerson closed the meet-
ing with prayer.
The hostess, Mrs. McInnes,
served lunch. The March meet-
ing v. ill be held at the home of
Mrs. 11. D. MacDonald.

WHITI:CHPRCII-Calvin-
Brick Messengers held their
meeting on Sunday. The theme
was, "Jesus the Teacher". Miss
Joyce Coultes conducted the
meeting with Miss Linda Mc-
Gee as pianist. The call to wor-
ship and prayer were given by
Miss Coultes. Miss Marian Mc-
Gee read the Scripture followed
by prayer by Miss Doris Coultes.
Miss Doris Taylor and Miss
Janet Whytock received the of-
fering which was dedicated by
Joyce Coultes. The Herald re-
port was given by Miss Marga-
ret Robertson. The story, "What
Is a Parable?"' was given by
Mrs. Joyce McGee. Miss Bar-
bara Patterson read a poem.
All went to their classes, the
senior leader being Mrs. Arthur
Jackson, the junior leader Mrs,
George McGee, primary, Mrs.
Lawrence Taylor and junior
primary, Mrs. John Jamieson.

WHITECHURCH- The United
Church Messengers held their
meeting Sunday in the Sunday
School room during church ser-
vice,
President John Gibb opened
the meeting with the singing of
a hymn and the Messengers'
motto. Diane Swan read the
Scripture reading. Prayer was
given by Cathy Soloman.Janet
Sleightholm received the offer-
ing which was dedicated by
Nancy Swan.
The roll call was answered
by 20 members. The minutes
were read by the secretary,
Charles Thompson and the treas-
urer, Janet Sleightholm, gave a
report. Miss Marlene Weber
suggested that the Messengers
send $10.00 worth of papers and
books to Trinidad. All Messen-
gers were in favor of this.
They divided, the seniors
under their leader, Mrs.Clar-
ence Ritchie to study their book
and the juniors, with Mrs.
Sleightholm to study " The Chil-
dren in the Sun".
KITTY TAKES A RIDE
WHITECHURCH-As Ernest
Beecroft approached the 10th
concession corner on the river
road one day recently, on his
daily bus trip to Fordyce School,
he became aware of the mew-
ing of a cat.
On investigation he found
his house cat riding on the roof
and vigorously protesting the
trip. Mr. Beecroft heard no more
complaints after he had the cat
safely locked in the glove com-
partment,

Mr. and Mrs. Angus Falconer,
Kevin and Allan of Streetsville
visited at the home of his mo-
ther, Mrs. Cassie Falconer, who
accompanied them here after
spending a few weeks in Streets-
ville.
This community extends sin-
cerest congratulations to their
former Whitechurch correspond-
ent, Mrs. Dustan Beecroft, who
recently received a plaque and
was named Champion Weekly
Newspaper Correspondent of
the Province of Ontario.

Johnston spent the week -end
with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tiffin.

bus driver, on Friday afterhoon
took the senior and junior boys
basketball teams to South Hu-
ron District High School. The
juniors, under coach Dave Ben-
der, had a score of 53 to Exe-
ter's 52. The seniors, under
coach Brian Taylor, lost to Exe-
ter by a score of 76-70.
Visitors on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. George Fisher were Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Fisher, Lonnie
and Lori of Guelph, Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Gibson, Rhonda , Billie
and Gregory of Lucknow, and
Miss Nancy Forster of Mount
Forest,accompanied by Tammy
and Faye Anne of Lucknow.
Mr. and Mrs. Gershom John-
ston and Mr. Jack Aitcheson
were among those who left on
the bus Sunday morning for
Miami Beach, Florida. They
are due to return March 7. Allan
Reed is the driver.

ville spent the week -end with
his mother, Mrs. Doris Willis
and John.

wood, visited Saturday with Mr.

his old hunting grounds on Con.

On Tuesday Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Rintoul attended the funeral
of his cousin, the late Mr. Cam-
eron Rintoul of Mitchell.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Coffin,
Scott, Mark and Joe of Barrie
are spending a few days with
his mother, Mrs. Emma Coffin
and John.
Mr. and Mrs. Mack Cardiff
of Brussels were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rintoul.
Mrs. Dawson Craig was taken
to Wingham and District Hospi-
tal on Friday evening with sev-
eree head pains. She was taken
by ambulance to Victoria Hos-
pital, London, on Saturday
morning. The people of the
community wish her a speedy
recovery.
