Gift of Money
To Newlyweds
WHITECHURCH-A large
crowd gathered Friday evening
in the Community Memorial
Hall to honor Mr. and Mrs,
Douglas Conley, newlyweds.
At lunch hour Mr. and Mrs.
Conley were called to the plat-
form and given seats of honor.
Jim Moffat read an address and
Ivan Laidlaw presented them
with a gift of money.
Mr. Conley thanked all on
behalf of Mrs. Conley and him-
self for their gift,
Tiffin's orchestra supplied
the music while the calling off
was taken care of by Oscar
Schefter and Leroy Rintoul.
Whitechurch News Items
Mrs. James Laidlaw was
discharged from Wingham and
District Hospital on Sunday.
Mrs. Tom Magoffin is staying
with Mrs. Laidlaw until she is
able to take over her own house-
hold duties.
Mr. Ted Collyer on Wednes-
day completed the re -wiring of
Mr. Elroy Laidlaw's barn, which
was necessitated because of the
recent lightning storm. We
have also been informed that
the lightning that morning shat-
tered the big elm tree which
stood at the entrance to the
lane of Mr. John McBurney of
Marnoch. Big stones at the foot
of the elm tree were dislodged
and the telephone system in
that neighborhood was put out
of commission.
The annual meeting of Lang -
side Presbyterian Church has
been postponed till Saturday
afternoon, February 6th.
The February meeting of
Whitechurch Women's Institute
will be held Wednesday, Febru-
ary 10 at the home of Mrs. Vic-
tor Emerson. The topic, Cana-

er visited last week with rela-
tives in East Wawanosh and
Wingham.
Murray Irwin, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Irwin, took sick while
attending public school. He has
measles and pneumonia.
We are sorry to report Leisa,
two -month-old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Sidney Thompson is
in Wingham and District Hospi-
tal with pneumonia.

and family visited on Sunday

Nears Completion
FORDWICH-The annualves-
try meeting of Trinity Church
was held in the basement of
the church. The meeting open-
ed with prayer by the rector,
Mr. Anderson. John Gamble
was appointed clerk. The min-
utes of the board meetings and
last annual meeting were read
and adopted.
The financial statement for
1964 was presented, showing a
very successful year in all or-
ganizations. Mr. Andersongave
the rector's report for the past
year, explaining that the new
washroom was nearing comple-
tion, and expressing his grati-
tude to the members for their
work and support.
Officers elected for 1965
were: Rector's warden, Emmer-
son Ferguson; people's warden,
Hector Browne;,lay delegates
to Synod, John Gamble and
Pat J. W. Daunt; Honorary dele-
gate, John Armstrong Sr.; sub-
stitutes, James Foster and Stan-
ley Forester.

WHITECHURCH-On Sunday
at the Chalmers Presbyterian
Church service Mr. Donald
Watt, student minister, read a
letter from Mr. Jacob Kuiper,
the former student minister,who
was hospitalized in Toronto
General Hospital around Christ-
mas
hristmas time. Mr. Kuiper thanked
all his many friends in this and
the Langside community for
their letters, cards and visits
while he was a patient there.
He has returned to Holland,
Michigan, and hopes to gradu-
ate in the spring.
