PRESCRIPTIONS FILLED EXACTLY AS THE DOCTOR ORDERED At DRUG STORE NEW KINSMEN—Following a serious cere- mony two weeks ago, five new Kinsmen were initiated into the local club on Mon- day evening with the usual highjinks. The group includes Ron Wingfield, Clarence Du- quette, President Cal Burke, Elwood Irwin, Ray Galbraith and Keith McClure. —Advance -Times Photo. Successful Year at U.C. WROXETER-The annual meeting of Wroxeter United Church was held in the base- ment on Friday evening. Rev. Fred Taylor, chairman, read Scripture and prayer. Mrs. Vern Hupfer was ap- pointed secretary for the even- ing. Mr. Taylor gave a full re- port of his work which included hospital and pastoral calls, bap- tisms and other duties. He also said that a portable communion set had been purchased for home communions. H. Timm gave the session report and Mrs. Wm. Wright read the financial report, pas- toral charge, M & M, and U. C.W. reports. The trustees' report showed a bond due in 1966. Other organizations report- ing were Friendship Unit, Mrs. H. Wylie; Harmony Unit, Mrs. J. Wylie; Willing Workers, Mrs. G. Louttit. The units all had a successful year. The Sunday School cont ri- buted well to missions and the general fund, according to Miss Joyce Longstaff. Mrs. Hupfer reviewed the C. G. I. T. work; Mrs. Leslie Douglas. the Messengers; Mrs. J. Wylie, Nursery Roll; Mrs. Hupfer, the three choirs, and community Bible Society which realized $84.15. Mrs. G.Gibson is in charge of the Upper Room. Mr. Taylor thanked the choirs and the organist, care- taker. officers and members.. A discussion was held on unifying the Bible Society ef- fort in the community. The representatives from the United Church are Les Douglas, James Doig, Harvey Timm and Mrs. V. Hupfer. A motion was passed to raise the organist's salary and a sum of $100 will be spent: on the Presbytery project. The Taylor family was thanked for their untiring ef- forts by H. Miss Marilyn Campbell of Toronto spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Campbell. The Belgrave United Church congregational pot -luck lunch and annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 26 and on Friday, January 29, the Sunday School will sponsor a crokinole party in the church basement, to which everyone is invited. Al Stark of Detroit visited last week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Procter and other relatives. • Letter from Glasgow Read BLUEVALE-The Bluevale Women's Institute met at the home of Mrs. George Hethering- ton on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Jas. C. Johnston, vice president presiding, in the ab- sence of Mrs-. Harry Elliott. Mrs. Charles Mathers, secre- tary treasurer, gave the corres- pondence and reports. A letter was read from a correspondent in Glasgow stating that Bluevale is the name of a street and a church in Glasgow. Alexander Duncan, first settler, named the village in memory of this church in his native Scotland. The roll call was "A'hobby for my old age". Mrs. Milton Fraser read a humorous poem about standard sizes of ladies' dresses. Mrs. J.C.Johnston was con- vener for the historical pro- gram;The History of Bluevale" Mrs. C. B. Hoffman read a paper prepared by- Mrs. Johnston, using material from the Book of Turn - berry, written by Mrs. M.,L. Aitken, in the centennial year 1957. Mrs. G. C. Mitchell prepared the motto, "Say all that should be said, not all that could be said and this was read by Mrs. R. J. McMurray. Mrs. Aitken gave poems written by her brother, the late Clayton Duff.
