GORRIE- The May meeting
of St. Stephen's W.A. was
held at the home of Mrs. Ed-
ward Newton Wednesday after-
noon
fternoon with an attendance of 13.
Mrs. Geo. Anderson conducted
opening devotions. Mrs. Harry
King, vice-president, presided
for the business and Mrs. Wm.
Austin read the minutes.
An interesting letter from
the group's prayer partner,
Rev. George Hamilton, Port
Simpson, N. W. T. , was read.
Mrs. Mary Taylor read of the
life of the Rev. Joseph Scriven,
who is remembered for the
hymn "What a Friend We Have
in Jesus". He was born in Ire-
land and after coming to Cana-
da lived at Rice Lake, Ontario.
The financial report of the
recent Deanery meeting was
given. It was decided to give
$50 to the general fund and
$12 to the budget. It was also
decided not to have a garden
party this summer but for each
family to maze a cash contri-
bution.
The roll call was a verse on
the corning of the Holy Spirit.
The hymn "Breathe on Me,
Breath of God" was sung. Mrs.
Anderson closed with prayer
and the hostess served refresh-
ments.
Billy's mother asked him
why he didn't play with the
little boy next door. "He's a
nice boy," she reminded him,
"and I never heard him say
naughty words."
No," Billy admitted, "but
you will tomorrow."
"Why tomorrow?"
"Because", boasted Billy
proudly, "I just told him some:'
