Police Report Asks for New Cruiser
In a detailed report prepared
: ofLc Chief James Miller,
read at the inaugural meeting
of council on Monday evening,
a recommendation was made to
replace the police cruiser now
in use with a new vehicle. The
report -stated that the 1962 car
now in use had logged nearly
34, 000 miles. Chief Miller's
report also suggested that coun-
cil should give consideration to
hiring someone as school cross-
ing guard at the intersection of
John and Josephine Streets. He
stated that he could not be at
the intersection at all times
and that the corner should have
a guard while the children are
crossing to and from school.
Chief Miller extended his
thanks and appreciation to the
council for its co-operation and
to other citizens for assistance
given to the force.
The detailed report said that
all equipment charged to the
Police Department was in good
order. Health of the members
was good, although one con-
stable had been off work with a
broken ankle for several weeks.
The department investigated
77 accidents during the year
