WINGHAM PH. 357.2636 "A" PACK CUBS The Scout house was festive- ly decorated for the Christmas party held last Tuesday night. A.C.M. L. Lloyd took the Grand Howl and inspection fol- lowed. The Brown six was the neatest and Paul Forsyth was chosen best Cub for general neatness and cleanliness. Attendance and dues were marked and collected. Twenty- six Cubs and four leaders were present. Don Rintoul was wel- comed and introduced to the boys as a new assistant leader. Some games were played and then Ken Aitchison read the Christmas story, Assistant Leader C. Kennedy told the boys about the celebration of Christmas in the Mennonite faith. Carol singing followed and Bill Fuller was pianist. The boys returned to their Sixes and ice cream treats were handed out. They received gifts from under the tree and • did some swapping on the side, The Grand Howl was per- formed and the Cub prayer re- cited. Thus ended a most en- joyable evening. The first meeting of the new year will be January 7th and it will start at 6;45 p.m. and finish at 8:15 p.m, The new schedule will allow additional time required for elle boys to work on their tests. 0--0--0 "B" PACK CUBS The regular meeting of the "B" Pack was held on Thurs- day evening at the Scout House, all arriving through the snow but two of the Pack. The boys spent a wonderful evening en- joying a Christmas party with their leaders. The Grand Howl, taken by ACM Adelaide Ahara, and re- peating of the Cub Promise opened the meeting. A presen- tation was made of the two First Stars to be won in the Pack this year. Jim Brooks and Ricky Downton have completed their tests for the Star and also re- ceived two proficiency badges. It is with regret that the Pack said good-bye and safe trails to both Ricky and John Downton, as they will be moving from Wingham during the coming 1 holidays. Inspection by Cub Master Ron Zimmer followed and the Yellow Six won the prized Wog- gle for the meeting,which was worn by their Sixer, John Schip- per, Games followed with points for the Sixes, but it was hard to pick the top Six as each came first in at least one event, How- ever, lots of fun was enjoyed by all, and the boys learned that it really doesn't platter whc won the game but how the game was played. This is all a part of the teaching of good sportsmanship in Cubs, Ice cream and cookies were enjoyed, followed by the pre- sentation of presents from under the Christmas tree and the sing- ing of favourite carols. The boys were reminded that we should truly remember that this is a very special day -- the birthday of Jesus Christ. Silent Night and Away in a Manger which teach the story of Christ- mas in a simple, yet wonderful way, took on a new meaning. Our thanks to ACM L. Lloyd of "A" Pack, who came down to play the piano for the carol singing. The meeting closed with the Grand Howl and Cub prayer and the announcement that the next meeting will be held on Thurs- day, Jan. 9th, 1964. 0--0--0 Merry Christmas and a Hap- py New Year to all the boys, especially to those who could not join with us for the Christ- mas Party, and to all their in- terested parents, who have made this first portion of the year so successful by their be- hind the scene participation, so necessary if we are to ac- complish the job of training our boys into Good Citizens of To- morrow, — from all the Leaders of "B" Pack. George Conn presid- ed at the organ and Mr. Kuiper was the chairman. The opening carol was, "It Carne upon a Midnight Clear". Prayer was given by Mr. Kuiper. The pupils sang "Away in a Manger" and "0 Corrie All Ye Faithful". Choral readings were by Sandra Fisher, Alma Conn, Wendy Reynolds, Edna Wall, Sharon Rintoul, Alex Craig, George Gaunt and Billie Wall. The Christmas story was given by Mrs. Kuiper. A Dutch Christmas carol was sung by Mr, and Mrs. Bregman, Mr. and Mrs. Simon DeBoer and son, Mr. and Mrs. Peter De - Boer, Mr. John DeBoer, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kuiper and Mrs. DeGroot. The closing prayer was giv- en by Mr. Kuiper, after which he read a letter from Rev. Hill of Sudbury, former pastor, All the children present were treat- ed.
