It was announced that $640.50 had been cleared on the Maga- zine Drive. Various financial matters were dealt with and ad- mission price for the formal (December 20th) was set at $2.00, after heated discussion (two form representatives began to slash at each other with steel-edged rulers). Elwin Moore and Daryl Gib- son were appointed as Journal Editor and Assistant Journal Edi- tor respectively. Glenn Mach- an outlined the 'Vox Preview' project. 'Vox Preview' is a lit- tle ittle magazine which will be published for high school con- sumption. The members decided that Grade Thirteen should have an- other Student Council represen- tative in keeping with the rep- resentation by population prin- ciple. (Hugh Mundell was la- ter elected by 13B). The Stu- dent Council authorized Philip Adams to engage the services of the Matheson Band for the formal. Will WDHS Go? Rumour has it that the name Wingham and District High School or W.D.H.S. is to be changed to Wingham Colle- giate. If this reprehensible ac- tion is carried out, various prob- lems will immediately arise. For example, the first two lines of our school song are: "Cheer, cheer, for old Wing - ham High Let's lift the roof right up to the sky." These immortal words would doubtless have to be changed to the following: "Cheer, cheer for Wingham Collegiate Let's lift the roof right up to the skegiate." However, all would not be lost if we could only find a skegiate and make it the school mascot. Commencement Commencement was held last Friday evening as you may have realized from looking at the rest of the paper. The in- mates had eagerly awaited Commencement since it meant that packing boxes, desks etc., would have to be cleared out of the gymnasium and the basket- ball season could start. On the fiteful evening suc- cessful students from last year's Grades Twelve and Thirteen were lined up in a double row in the lower corridor. They walked into the gym in pairs and sat in reserved chairs at the front. Affairs were conducted with the confusion which is one of our finest traditions. Your observer did his part to further this confusion at one point in the evening when he gave a masterful demonstration of the finer points of musical chairs. Criminal Unmasked What well-known and high- ly respected member of the W.D.H.S. teaching staff was a rum -runner desiring Prohibition? If you're interested look in this column next week for a piece entitled 'Expose'. You won't find it. A tourist in Paris was en- dezvouring to use some of his high school French to order his luncheon, "Garsong," he said, "je desire consoorne royal, et un -piece of pang et burre—no hang it—une piece of burr--" "I' m so sorry, sir," said the tactful waiter, "I don't speak French." "Well," snapped the tourist, "for heaven's sake send some- one who can."
