Pion White Gift Service for
First Sunday in December
WHITECHURCH Calvin -
Brick U.C,W, met last Wed-
nesday at the home of Mrs, Ed,
Smythe. There were 17 ladies
present. The president, Mrs.
Gilbert Beecroft, presided. MrS.
Gordon McBurney gave the call
to worship and a hymn wasread
in unison. Prayer was given by
Mrs. Harry Cook. Psalm 693
was read in unison. The offer-
ing was received and the dedi-
catory prayer given by Mrs.
Alex Robertson.
Mrs. Rev. Jackson gave the
Bible study, "Man Before God"
based on the first and second
chapters of Genesis, She asked
questions of the groups. Mrs.
Mina MacRitchie had the mis-
sion study on India. She told
of the agricultural and industri-
al plans there. Mrs. George
McGee gave a report on the
regional rally held recently at
Brussels. Mrs. Mason Robinson
read a letter from the steward-
ship secretary and Mrs. Ken Ma-
son read a letter from the fi-
nance secretary setting the allo-
cation at $250.00 plus $2 for
the expense fund.
Plans were made for the
White Gift Service set for Sun-
day, December 1st. Gifts are
required for older teen-agers.
Plans were also made for the
Christmas Concert to be held in
the church on December 18th.
The treasurer, Mrs. Ronald
Coultes, gave her report and
$52,00 had beers cleared onthe
church supper. The secretary,
Mrs, John Jamieson, read the
minutes. Mrs. Norman Coultes
was appointed to take Mrs. Alex
Leaver's place on the nominat-
ing committee to bring in a
slate of officers at the Decem-
ber meeting. A special offer-
ing will he received at the De-
cember meeting for mission
workers. Shut-ins will be re-
membered after the December
meeting.
The ladies of the church are
to assist with the supper for the
ball•team on November 30th.
A quilt is to be made and quilt-
ed before Christmas. All are
reminded that church calendars
are for sale. Mrs. Arthur Jack-
son closed the meeting with the
Mizpah benediction.
FROSTY FEMALES
Everyone knows that the per-
iod of mild, hazy weather
which follows the first frosts of
Autumn is known as Indian
Summer, but what of the frosty
period itself? At one time this
was called "Squaw's Winter."
BRIDGE OFFICIALLY OPENED—This is the new bridge on
the first line of Morris Township which was officially open-
ed by Murray Gaunt, MPP, Huron -Bruce, on Monday morn-
ing. The structure is 227 feet in length, with 179 feet of
the span over water. Of ridged -frame construction, the
bridge was started In July by Mowbray Construction Co,
of Wingham, and has been opened to traffic for the past
month. Final cost with grading was placed at $80,000.00.

Lloyd Philips was taken to
Toronto Hospital on Sunday.
Mrs. Charlie King of Detroit
and Mrs. Russel Ritchie were
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
Helm on Tuesday. On Wednes-
day Mrs. King left for herhome
in Detroit. Mrs. King had her
hip broken recently and was
getting around on crutches.

cattle won fourth place for him
