Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jack VanCamp on the birth of their son in the Wing - ham and District Hospital on Thursday. Mrs. Jennie Beattie of Hud- son Bay visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Michie and family and is visiting with other relatives and friends in the community. , Mrs. Clare VanCamp, Mrs. Gordon McBurney and Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler attended the Blue Water Regional Confer- ence for Cub and Scout leaders Personals and Committeemen held at Lis- towel High School on Saturday. Dinner was served at the United Church after which Lloyd Ack- ert of Holyrood showed his sou- venirs and slides of the Scout Jamboree held in Greece. WIN PRIZE AT TALENT CONCERT WHITECHURCH—On Satur- day evening Misses Brenda, Joyce and Doris Coultes and Joan Currie attended the talent concert in Ontario Street Unit- ed Church, Clinton. This quar- tette won first prize in its group. They sang "I Believe". Reception for Young Couple BELGRAVE--A reception and dance was held in the Forester Hall on Friday evening in hon- our of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Scott (Wilma Dale). At inter- mission the young couple were called to the platform. Bill Taylor read an address and they were presented with many love- ly gifts. Eldon Cook presented them with an electric frying pan on behalf of the charivaree crowd. Mrs. William Coultes presented a white canister set on behalf of the North Huron Junior Farm- ers and Junior Institute; Lila Black presented a card table on behalf of the Belgrave Beef Calf Club and David Hanna made the presentation of a purse of mon- ey on behalf of their many friends and neighbours present at the reception. Mrs. Clare VanCamp was in charge of the meeting and opened with prayer followed by the Lord's prayer in unison. Scripture was read by Mrs. Clarke Johnston. The treasur- er's report was given by Mrs. Cooper Nethery and she report- ed that $150.00 was realized at the recent bazaar. Mrs. Law- rence Vannan read the corres- pondence. Plans were made for cater- ing to the Crop and Soil Im- provement banquet to be held on November 27. The roll call was answered by a Remembran- ce Day verse. Dues were col- lected and the birthday box passed around. Mrs. Archie Montgomery favoured with se- veral selections on the piano. Mrs. Clare VanCamp conduct- ed a raffle, which was won by Mrs. Archie Montgomery. Rev. Robert Meally spoke on the special Christmas service which will be held in the An- glican Church the Sunday be- fore Christmas. Rev. Meally closed with prayer. Lunch was served by Mrs. Archie Mont- gomery and Mrs. Albert Jack- son. Good Samaritan Meeting Tpic WHITECHURCH—The Mis- sion Band of the Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mrs. Earl Caslick on Saturday. Mrs. Caslick, leader of the Band, had charge of the meeting. Paul Elliott read the Scrip- ture and Ruth Elliott led in prayer. Mrs. Hugh Simpson as- sistant leader, gave a talk, "Things that Are Free". Bobby Ross received the offering. Dar- lene Simpson gave the offertory prayer. The topic was the story of the Good Samaritan illustrated with flannelgraph pictures. They practised a Himbi Song. The treasurer is Darlene Simpson and the secretary Ilene DeBoer. The meeting closed with prayer in unison.
