There were no ap- peals and two property owner- ships were changed. The treasurer was given au- thority to write off uncollect- able taxes for the years 1959 to 1963 dog tax, etc. By-law No. 10 was read a first, second and third time and passed. Groskorth. Mrs, E. Sleight - holm gave the call to worship and a poem. The Scripture reading was given by Mrs. Mil- lan Moore. Mrs. Eunice Gil- lespie gave the missionary pray- er. The study book "The Word and the Way", the chapter on "The Living God", was given by Mrs. Clarence Ritchie. Mrs. Russel Gaunt, Mrs. Clarence Ritchie and Mrs. Robert Laid- law were appointed as a nomin- ating committee to bring inthe 1964 slate of officers. Mrs. Mitchell gave the poem "Is this Consecration?". Mrs. George Hetherington of Blue - vale gave an interesting report VETERANS PARADE — The annual Cenotaph service on Remembrance Day saw the usual good turnout of vet- erans in the parade to the Diagonal Road memorial. Honor Newlyweds WHITECHURCH-Saturday night in the Legion Hall in Luck now, a capacity crowd gathered to honour Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Forester, newlyweds. At the end of the dancing period Mr. and Mrs. Forester were called to the platform and. Murray Gaunt addressed them. Allan Cranston made the pre- sentation of a gift of money. Mr. Forester, on behalf of him- self and his bride, made a very fitting reply to Mr. Gaunt's ad- dress. Lunch was served. on the Alma College Training School for Leaders which she attended this summer. A re- port of the U.C.W. convention held in Brussels on Oct. 10 was given by Mrs. Dan Tiffin, who • Reception Held FORDWICH-A reception and dance was held on Friday night in the Fordwich commun- ity hall, in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Bernald King, who were recently married. Miss Marjorie Foster read the address and Mrs. Phyllis Bolander and Gary Sothern pre- sented them with a wall mirror, smoke stand and magazine rack hassock and a purse of money. The young couple made suitable replies. covered the morning session and Mrs. Elwood Groskorth reported on the afternoon session. Rev., Mitchell closed with prayer. There were 16 members and four visitors. News of Fordwich Mr. and Mrs. Bert Winston left by motor on Monday for Zepherhills, Florida, where they will spend the winter months. Mrs. Martha Baker of Wing - ham spent a couple of dayslast week with friends in town. Mrs. Anson Ruttan and Aud- rey spent one day last week in Kitchener. Mr. Jack Doig of St. Cath- arines spent the week -end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Doig. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wil- liamson, Brenda and Barbara of London, were week -end visitors with Mrs. Emma Williamson. Little Brenda Williamson re- mained for a longer visit. Mr. Lloyd Cober left on Monday for the Bahamas where he will be employed for the next three months. Afternoon Unit Met at Church FORDWICH-The Afternoon 'Unit of the Fordwich U.C.W. held the November meeting in the Sunday school rooms of the United Church, Mrs. Robt. Gib- son presided. The theme of the meeting was "The Way of Peace" A prayer for peace was offered by Mrs. Glenn Johnston. Mrs. Pearl Patterson read the Scrip- ture. Mrs. Robt. Gibson gave the meditation •and a reading, "Rememberance Day" was given by Mrs. Wm. Wilson. Plans for the Christmas ba- zaar were discussed. Mrs. Cros- by Sothern gave the study book chapter on Indian opportunity. Mrs. Parker Eurig closed with prayer and a delicious lunch was served. Friend: "You will soon for- get her and be happy again."
