ning last, at the home of Mrs,
Harry Cook, Marnoch, with
fifteen members present and
Mrs, Alex Robertson presiding.
She gave the call to worship
and led in prayer. The theme
was, "That the world may
know." Scripture was read.
Mrs. Robertson read a poem,
"The Touch of Human Hands",
and led in the Bible study per-
iod on miracles. Mrs. Norman
Coultes gave a talk on corn-
munity friendship, telling how
to help others through under-
standing when visiting the aged,
the sick, the handicapped, the
mentally troubled and the new-
comers.
Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft presid-
ed for the business period, tell-
ing of the summer course in
Goderich on September 7, and
the sectional meeting in Brus-
sels on October 10. The ladies
planned to go to Westminster
College, London, on August29.
They decided to order the new
study book, "The Christian
Movement in S. Asia".
Mrs, Ronald Coultes gave
the financial report, and they
decided to contribute towards a
gift for Mrs. Harold Anderson
from the special fund of the
church. Mrs. Lawrence Taylor
reported that the bale, over
165 lbs, , had been sent

MRS. H. TIFFIN DIES
WHITECHURCH--Mr, and
Mrs, Chas, Tiffin reoeived
word last week of the passing
of Mrs. Herb Tiffin at Ashland,
Wisconsin, at the age of 93,
after a fall in which she receiv-
ed a broken hip. One daughtei
Mrs. Rose Thompson, survives.
Many will remember the three
Tiffin brothers of Langside dis-
trict, Reuben, Elmer and Herb,
who have all passed away.

WHITECHURCH—The White-
church Institute ladies, Mrs.
Coffin, Mrs, Thos. Jamieson,
Mrs. George Fisher, Mrs. Robt.
Ross, Mrs. George Walker and
Mrs. Johnston Conn, were rep-
resenting their branch at the
Log Cabin Museum, Southamp-
ton, on Thursday and realized
over $5.00 by serving sand-
wiches, cookies, and tea to
visitors that afternoon.

and family are spending the

Mr. and Mrs, Thos. Morri-
son left Wednesday to visit with
their daughter, Mrs. Frank
Stockill and Mr. Stockill at
Timmins. Mrs, Walter Scott
of Lucknow stayed at the Morri-
son home over the week -end.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rintoul
and family and Mr, and Mrs,
Mac Cardiff, Brussels, attended
a family gathering with their
parents, Mr, and Mrs. George
Caldwell on Sunday at Blyth.
Jack Cameron of Ashfield is
spending a few days this week
at the Rintoul home here.
The good weather of last
week helped farmers in this
district to harvest a lot of their
crops and if it keeps fine, this
week many will finish at an
earlier date than other years.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Viller-
ius and children, Vicki and
John, of Holland, Mich., spent
the week -end with Mr. and
Mrs. Kuiper at the manse,
They are moving to New Bruns-
wick.
Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Mc-
Gowan of Oakville spent the
week -end with Mr, and Mrs.
Ronald Jamieson.
Mr. and Mrs. George Stan-
ley and children of Lucknow
visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Jas. McInnis.
The U.C.W. of the United
Church will meet next Wednes-
day at the home of Mrs, G, C.
Mitchell of Bluevale.

korth of Toronto spent a few
days last week with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Groskorth.
Mrs. Roane, who has been a
patient in Wingham Hospital
for the past six weeks, was able
to return home one day last
week,
Miss Elaine Conn spent a
few days last week with Mrs.
Ross Smith at a cottage at Lur-
gan Beach.
Mrs. Harry Swan was able
to return home on Saturday af-
ter spending three weeks as a
patient in Wingham Hospital.
Mr, and Mrs. Johnston Conn
spent Sunday at Port Elgin visit-
ing with her aunts, Mrs. Ernest
Wall and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan
Nielly.
Miss Florence Moir of Tor-
onto spent last week -end with
Mr. and Mrs, Jas. Richardson.

and family visited on Sunday

held its meeting on Wednesday
and entertained the children of
the church. Mrs. Victor Emer-
son presided, and gave a talk
to the children, "To Keep or
not to Keep" , telling them to

She explained that it only takes
20 muscles of the fact to smile,
so they could smile often. All
sang, "When He Cometh".
Mrs. Hugh Simpson and Mrs.
Earl Caslick presided for the
children's program. Irene De
Boer read the Scripture and
Mary Lou Wall led in prayer.
Mrs. Caslick led in an interest-
ing flannelgraph, "Stories of
Jesus". A group of children
sang, "Tell Me the Stories of
Jesus".
Mrs. Kuiper led the children
by a mental trip to Holland,
200 miles by 150, with 11 mil-
lion people, and told of Amster
dam, with its high brick build-
ings, open markets, small tram
cars, canals where all skate in
the winter. She said many
people left Holland because
there was no freedom of relig-
ion, and many went to Holland,
Mich. , and attended schools
+and universities there.
Mary Lou Adams gave a read-
ing, "God Cares" and all sang,
'Jesus Loves Me". The meet-
ing closed with the Mission
Band prayer in unison. Lunch
was served.
