Elliott of Kenilworth on Friday. Mrs, M. Taylor, Mr, and Mrs, Edgar Dane and family and Mr, William Dane spent Sunday in St. Thomas with Mr, and Mrs, Tom Edgar and family, Mrs. Bertha Plant attended the Plant reunion at Fergus on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs, Robt. Jones and Darlene, Toronto, spent a few days at the home of Mr, and Mrs, Cecil Grainger. M. and Mrs. Fred Coulter spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Melvin Ornand, Con, 4, Maryborough Twp. Master Glen Omand returned home after spending the week with his grandparents. BELGRAVE--The U.C. W. of Knox United Chureh rrct on Thursday evening in the church parlours, Mrs. George Michie opened with the theme "Not Give Me but Make Me" and the call to worship. The doxology was sung and Mrs. Floyd Camp• bell read the Scripture, "The earth is the Lord's and the full- ness thereof." Mrs. George Michie read a meditation en- titled "God is Evetwhere". A hymn was sung and Mrs.. H. J. Anderson read an article called "We belong to God". Another hymn was sung, and the offer- ing was received by Mrs, Jame: Coultes and Mrs. George John- ston and dedicated by Mrs. George Michie. Mrs. George Martin, Christ - Federation Plans Trip to Michigan BELGRAVE--The directors of the Morris Federation of Agriculture met at the Feder- ation Park, on the 4th line of Morris on Thursday evening with a good attendance. Presi- dent Stan Hopper was in charge. Minutes were read by secre- tary, Richard Procter. Jim Spivey was named to see the Junior Farmers about planting more trees at the park site in the spring. The bus trip was discussed and it was announced that the home economist for Lapier County, Michigan, would accompany the ladies to the farm homes of Martus Bros. and Alson Shoults and take them on a tour of the newly remodelled homes. Several suggestions were made to improve the park and it was decided to hold a work bee on Friday evening to cut grass, clean up, and put up the name signs. A wiener roast was enjoyed at the close of the meeting. The next meeting will be held in September, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby. Mrs, George Martin read a letter from Mrs. Reavie, Christian stewardship secretary for Huron Presbytery. The work being done by the Veliore Hospital was read by Mrs. Jack Taylor and Mrs. Leslie Bolt read an article on leprosy, en- titled "Isle of Happy Healing". President Mrs. Ross Ander- son conducted the business and opened with singing a hymn, Minutes were read by Mrs. Laura Johnston and Mrs. James Coultes gave the treas- urer's report showing a balance on hand of $660.38, Mrs. Anderson read about the work of the U, C, W. and asked the support of the program Tell Us a Story and the Sunday School of the Air, The thankoffering meeting was announced for September 26, when a special speaker will be present. It was decidec to invite Blyth, Brick and Westfield to this meeting. A motion was passed to again hold a bazaar on nomin- ation day, Mrs. Walter Scott was named to order the new study books. Mrs, McSween Belgrave Personals Miss Jill Johnston of Wood- stock has been visiting for the past week with Mr, and Mrs. George Johnston and Brenda. Mr. and Mrs, Cecil Arm- strong of Thorndale visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Armstrong and other relatives in the community. Misses Nancy and Doreen Anderson visited last week with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Les Shaw, Sharon and Brian of London. Mrs. George Michie and Lloyd, and Mrs, Ross Anderso„ journeyed with Mr. and Mrs. James Michie to Toronto on Wednesday to see them off on the train for a month's vacation with Mrs. Michie's sister, Mrs. Jessie Brandon of Frobisher, Sask. Mrs. Michie, Lloyd and Mrs. Anderson spent the night with cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wills of Milton and re- turned the next day. Mr. and Mrs. John Nixon, Marjorie, Glenn and Calvin, are camping this week at the Pinery near Grand Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Mc- Dowell and Heather of Cooks- ville spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gor- don Walsh and attended the Campbell -Walsh wedding on Saturday. Mrs. Ed. A work bee was held on Fri- Congress Delegate Sunday Speaker GORRIE--A special pre - Anglican Congress service will be held in Trinity Church, Ford- wich, on Sunday morning, Aug- ust 4, at 11.00. The guest preacher will be Rev. A. T. Houghton, M, A. , London, England. Mr. Houghton is the General Secretary of the Bible Church- man's Missionary Society, and this year is chairman of the Keswick Convention. For many years prior to World War II Mr, Houghton was a missionary working in Burma, During the service Mrs, Elsie Strong is to be presented with a certificate of Life Mem- bership in the W.A. Mr, Harry McClenaghan and Mrs. Wellings of Wingham visited with Mr, and Mrs. Har- old Procter and Margaret on Sunday, Miss Joan Pegelo of Cargill, Ontario, spent last week with Miss Lila Black of Belgrave, on a 4-H exchange visit, Mr. Harvey Black of Bel - grave spent last week camping with Mr. Jim Pegelo at Port Elgin. Gorrie Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Edwards, London, spent the week with the farmer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Edwards, Mr. Wm. Ringler, Wroxeter, visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Chas. Koch. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Mc- Millan and family spent Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Claren- ce Wood at Port Elgin. Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Grain- ger visited with Mr. and Mrs, Edward Swales of Midland and also with Mr, and Mrs. Free- man Ingleton, of Peterborough. A family gathering was held Sunday at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Glad. Edgar with 66 des- cendants of the late Mr, and Mrs. Alex, Edgar attending. Those present were from Port Colborne, Sarnia, Wingham, Listowel, Gowanstown, Brussels and Molesworth, announced the Messenger's picnic at Turnberry park en Aug. '7. Fifty dollars was donated to the Belgrave Arena Building Fund, Mrs, Walter Scott, mission- ary co-ordinator, mentioned that any group of the church interested in a missionary pro- ject is to get in touch with her for the address. Mrs. Walter Scott expressed a few words of appreciation to Mrs. H. J. Anderson and Mrs. Ross Anderson presented her with a Life Membership pin on behalf of the members. Mrs. Anderson expressed her thanks. The last three verses of "At The Name of Jesus" was sung and all repeated the Mizpah benediction, Lunch was served. JOHN C.
