A. C. Coles, with an attendance of 60, Five classes were held daily from nursery, 3 to 4 year olds, to those entering grades 7 and 8 in school, On Friday evening a program was presented by the pupils telling of the work they had learned, and songs by the entire school were enjoyed by a capacity audience, Certificates were presented to the pupils by Rev. Coles, Afterwards everyone enjoyed viewing the work and crafts which were displayed. Some women want a man with a strong will -- made out to them. Mrs. William- son and children returned home with him after spending the past week here. Messrs. Mrs. Peter Chlomey and Janey of Port Colborne are spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Keith. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Sander- son left by motor last week for a trip to the West Coast. Mr. and Mrs. J. Sherwood and children of Olds, Alberta, are spending some time with Mr, and Mrs, Wm. Lloyd. Miss Lenore Beswitherick left last week from Malton Airport for France, where she will attend Sorbome School for six weeks and then spend two weeks in South Ireland before returning home. Misses Merrilee and Lori Riddell of Barrie are holidaying at the home of their grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bride. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lohr and Ward visited on Sunday with relatives in Toronto. Dr, J. D. Forde and four children of Blenheim, formerly of Fordwich, visited friends in the community one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Lynn, Karen and Judy, returned home Sunday to Orillia after spend- ing the past week with Mrs. Dora Ridley. Mr, Milton Priess was able to return home from West- minster Hospital, London, after undergoing eye surgery. Mrs. Rosemary Campbell and Jimmy of London spent the week -end with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gibson and family of Toronto were week -end visitors with Mr, and Mrs. Doug Holt. Miss Sharon Pollock of Kitchener was a week -end visitor at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Martin and family attended the Martin - Meeks wedding Saturday in Stratford. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ellis of Guelph and Mrs. Ida Gallagher of Listowel were Sunday guests Wm. J. Beach, Veteran Dies Word has been received of the passing of William J. Beach, aged 69, at Bala. He was a veteran of the British Army, serving throughout the entire campaign of World War I, He is survived by his wife, the former' Olive Lowrie, a granddaughter of David Lowrie and Mary Barton, pioneers of the Gorrie and Belmore districts Also surviving is a son, Gordon, of Nanaimo, B.G. , and a sis- ter, Elizabeth E. Beach of Tor- onto. Funeral service was held in the Bala United Church with interment in Torrance Ceme- tery. with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mc - Clement. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis have sold their home and will be leaving about July 20 to make their home in Vancouver, B.C. Mrs. Gallagher and Mrs. Ellis are sisters.
