The townships of Blanshard and Hibbert at this time have no representatives on the county board.
If you are interested in becoming more involved in the federation or if you know someone who would make a good
representative for your township on our board of directors, give the office a call at 229-6340 or contact one of the directors above.
FARMERS LOSE 31 BILLION IN EQUITY SINCE 1981
On November 7, 1989, the OFA met with Premier Peterson
and his cabinet, and finance again was stressed as the number
one problem.
Upon hearing the startling fact that farmers have lost as
much since 1981 in equity as the October 1987 stock market
crash of 31 billion, Peterson remarked, "You're kidding."
With interest rates at a stubborn 13.5 per cent and 1989
realized net farm income predicted to fall below last year's
levels, the OFA recommended that the government introduce
a program similar to the recently expired OFFIRR program.
The OFA has also urged the province to look at new
methods of agri-financing. With the decline of the FCC, it is
time for the province to pick up the slack with a long-term
action plan to address the financing needs of Ontario farmers.0
