I've had enough and I'm not going to
take it any more. I am going to start
fighting back and I urge all my fellow

Editor's note: It is Rural Voice policy
to keep "hands off" columns. Letters
to the editor, needless to say, are most
welcome.
On the Vos column, III
I see once again that your colum-
nist, Adrian Vos, is taking cheap shots
at supply management, specifically the
cost of production formula. He seems
to take great pleasure in destroying
our marketing system with his
campaign of propaganda.
He says: "The random number
assures that both the efficient and
inefficient COPs are included. This is
not a reasonable method. Consumers
should not be expected to keep farm-
ers who are not willing to upgrade
their operations in business."
Is he not aware that in the milk
COP the 30 per cent of operations
with the highest cost of production are
disregarded and the price paid to
farmers is based on the remaining 70
per cent who have the lowest COP?
Is he not aware that any subsidy
received by dairy farmers, i.e., Special
Grains, etc., is factored into the for-
mula, thereby eliminating any benefit
to dairy producers? This effectively
transfers the benefit of these subsidies
from producers to consumers.
Mr. Vos says: "Members of
supply -managed marketing boards
will probably scream at the suggestion
that their method is less than perfect.
That is to be expected. No one takes
it lying down when forced to work
harder or take a cut in income, how-
ever reasonable the change appears to
outsiders."
Does this imply that dairy produc-
ers don't work hard for their income?
I would suggest that we work a lot
harder producing milk than he does
researching his column.
I would suggest to your magazine
