PRODUCT TREATS
CATTLE DISEASE
A new treatment for respiratory dis-
eases in cattle has been introduced to the
Canadian market.
Synergistin, sold by rogar/STB Inc.,
is a combination of sulbactam and
ampicillin. Ampicillin is a broad-spec-
trum semi -synthetic penicillin. Sulbac-
tam is a penicillin derivative which
destroys penicillinase, bacteria's de-
fense mechanism against penicillin -
type antibiotics.
No other antibiotic or combination
of antibiotics currently used for cattle
has the ability to break this bacterial
defense mechanism down, says rogar/
STB Inc.
Synergistin is manufactured in Can-
ada and is available in 100 mL vials at
your local veterinary clinic.0
BAGGER PRESERVES
MOST BULK FEEDS
The new Rampack Bulk Bagger
from Hurst offers farmers a simple,
inexpensive way to store and preserve
most bulk feeds, including high mois-
ture corn, hay, and straw.
The Bulk Bagger is based on the
same principle as the Rampak Bale
Bagger which Hurst introduced four
years ago. The material is loaded into a
collector bin and packed into 100 -foot
lengths of polyethylene tubing by a
hydraulically operated piston.
Using this method, large quantities
of bulk feed can be stored safely,
quickly, and economically, and at qual-
ity levels equal to the best sealed silo
results.
