ORGANIC BEEF
REPLIES TO OCA
The clique atop the OCA â the
Ontario Cattlemen's Association â is
afraid to debate us one to one, face to
face, on some key health and econom-
ic issues.
Recently at a meeting of the
Ontario Freezer Meat Association,
some of Peace Valley's advertising
material was used to "educate people
about the evils of organic farming."
Come now! Peace Valley wasn't
even invited to be there to present a
defence. It's now the right time to tell
the whole story.
Whatever the OCA has to say
about our methods of raising drug-free
livestock, they should have the cour-
age to say it to our face ... and while
we're all there, let's debate why the
OCA wants to keep today's consumer
so ignorant about modern animal
husbandry practices.
We want to discuss the issues with
the OCA for everyone's benefit.
We welcome an open, monitored
debate with the Ontario Cattlemen's
Association.
The farmer, and especially the
consumer, has a right to know!O

CUTTING DOWN
THE FUTURE?
I noted recently a report that Ful-
larton Township Reeve Bert Vorsten-
bosch has said trees scheduled for
removal should be cut down and it is
selfish to think of the enjoyment the
trees provide.
The question should be asked â
How many more trees in the city,
county, and Western Ontario are we
going to destroy before it is too late?
In the Gadshill forest, the city has just
destroyed another 18,369 trees to
make way for an unnecessary airport
runway.
All over Ontario, farmers' wood -
lots are disappearing, wetlands are
drained, they now plow right up to the
roads, and in only a few places the
