The Rural Voice, 1988-03, Page 61WHAT'S NEW VACCINE FIGHTS ATROPHIC RHINITIS Salsbury Laboratories Ltd. of Kitch- ener has introduced a new vaccine to help swine producers avoid the major economic losses associated with atro- phic rhinitis, bacterial pneumonia, and erysipelas infections. RhinitisBac 3 -Way + D is an addi- tion to Salsbury's "life support system" vaccination program. Atrophic rhinitis, a common dis- ease, can lead to sharp decreases in feed efficiency and rate of gain in pigs as well as a lower resistance to secondary respi- ratory infections. Years of vaccine use in the field confirm that an effective vaccination schedule for atrophic rhinitis should include both sows and baby pigs. Vac- cinating the sow provides passive im- munity to nursing baby pigs via the colostrum. Vaccinating the litter helps provide active immunity up to market. Salsbury is a member of the Solvay group based in Brussels, Belgium.0 FORD 755B WILL BE BUILT IN CANADA Officials at Versatile Farm Equip- ment Operations in Winnipeg recently confirmed that the company will begin building the Ford 755B industrial trac- tor loader backhoe in November, 1988. "The decision will help us in our effort to stabilize employment in the face of continuing uncertainty in the agricultural equipment sales outlook," says general manager Paul Soubry. "The significance of this is that we will be the first major firm to build this type of product in Canada. It gives us another opportuity to help increase Canada's exports." Ford New Holland previously an- nounced it would end the production of industrial tractors at its Romeo, Michi- gan plant on June 30, 1988. Ford New Holland was formed in January of 1987 following the purchase of New Holland from the Sperry Corpo- ration in 1986. In mid -1987, the com- pany bought the Versatile farm equip- ment business from the Versatile Cor- poration.0 FINANCIAL CENTRE 122 The Square, Goderich 524-4464 1-800-265-5503 // Maqae Feed -7qg S Sh err e CONCRETE HOG FEEDERS Feeders O/ er • Ideal for wet feed vA Oly • For high moisture corn, chopped & pelleted feed e( • Large variety available for weaner & finishing pigs • Round concrete base feeders steel top. 5-8-1 1 bushel • Solid & open concrete penning made to your specifications • Available in 2', 3', 4', 5' and 6' feeders • 4' Hog Trough Supercrete Before you buy, give us a try! co tS1 STUBBE FARM PRODUCTS FAR M R.R. 2, Harley, Ontario NOE 1E0 Above: A long feeder k Call Burgessville Guaranteed for High Moisture Corn OD UG 519-4242183 WORLD WIDE ESCORTED TOURS TWO 18 DAY WONDERS AAAH!!
