OMMB RELEASES
ANNUAL FIGURES
The Ontario Milk Marketing
Board has reported marketings of
2.334 -billion litres of milk for the
fiscal year ending October 31, 1987.
The figures, released with the
board's Annual Report at its 22nd
annual meeting in Toronto in Janu-
ary, represents an increase of 0.7 per
cent over the previous year.
Processors were billed $1.123 bil-
lion for the milk. The board retained
$49 million for milk haulage, $4.9
million for the administration of the
marketing system, and $15.5 million
for market expansion efforts.
In addition, on behalf of the fed-
eral govemment the board collected
$55.6 million in levies from produc-
ers to cover the costs of exporting
surplus products, and $700,000 was
collected for the Ontario Dairy Herd
Improvement Coporation.
The $997 -million balance was
paid to more than 9,900 licenced
dairy farms in Ontario, which support
more than 17,000 farm families.0
