Cedar scents the air as you walk
down the halls of Oakwood Inn's new
resort buildings. It reminds you of a
summer cottage, or perhaps more to
the point at this time of year, a ski
chalet.
And skiing, cross-country variety,
is one of the attractions of Oakwood
this time of the year. Set back from
Highway 21, atop a hill overlooking
the resort's golf club, Oakwood offers
plenty of space for such outdoor plea-
sures. But for those who want more
unseasonable pleasures, there's also a
large indoor swimming pool and
whirlpool.
While much of the newer portion
of the resort offers the warmth of
wood and the brightness of Targe win-
dows, the dining room in the older
portion, gives the feeling of times past
with its darkly varnished log walls
and overhead chandeliers made from
carriage wheels.
Oakwood offers weekend packages
for the weekend skier or the romantic
couple. The package includes two
nights accommodation, a complete
breakfast on Saturday and Champagnc
Brunch on Sunday and two dinners.
Rates range from $143 per night for
two nights in a deluxe room ($128 per
night for three nights or $121 for four)
to $218 per night for two nights ($180
for three and $158.80 for four) for a
suite. This rate remains in effect until
April. There is also a rate of $88 per
night for deluxe rooms with no meals
included.
