History, and luxury
at Bayfield's
Little Inn
Not everybody has been happy
about the summery hustle and bustle
Bayfield has taken on with its growth
as a major sailing port and a prosper-
ing shopping centre in recent years
but in winter, you can still get the
quiet, restful charm that oldtimers feel
is the proper pace of life in the village.
The snow drifts peacefully down
and traffic is light on main street. No
matter how jangled your nerves, you
can hardly help but relax. And in win-
tertime, there's much more likely to
be room at the Inn— Bayfield's famous
Little Inn.
The Inn offers a remarkable blend
of modern comfort and convenience
and old time atmosphere. The Inn
itself opened in 1830 as a coaching
inn and much of that 19th century ele-
gance remains. The restored porch
that wraps around the building may
not offer the invitation of lazing away
a summer afternoon that it does in the
summer, but it still gives the building
a unique character.
Inside the Inn the dining room has
been enlarged with a south -facing
glassed -in area but the same atmo-
sphere reins. On the other side of the
entrance hall is an elegant parlour,
complete with fireplace.
Despite the age of the building, all
the rooms have ensuite baths.
Across the street and a few steps
away is The Guest Cottage, a modern
addition to the facilities offered that
has brought the number of rooms
available to 31. While blending in
with the village's main street, the Cot-
tage offers modern facilities with such
things as fireplaces and ensuite baths
with jacuzzis.
For the romantic couple, the Little
Inn is offering a special getaway Sat-
urday, Feb. 15 with a special menu.
There will also be dancing to the Ken
Varley Trio. The package cost is $190
for a couple ($30 per person for din-
ner and dance only).
Other weekends until May, the Inn
offers special rates of $170 per person
per day, double occupancy including a
hearty Huron Breakfast and a full
selection from the a la carte dinner
menu. Midweek prices (Sunday
through Thursday) run from $47.50
per person, per day for room and
breakfast to $75 per person per day
for room, breakfast and dinner.
