Aside from the Huron County
Court House in the centre of the
Square, probably the most prominent
landmark in Goderich's famous
Square is the Bedford Hotel. The his-
toric hotel dominates the corner of
South Street and The Square.
The Bedford offers a different
aspect than the other weekend pack-
ages outlined here: the only down-
town hotel. The hustle and bustle of
the main Goderich business core is
just outside the door with the shops
and nightlife. The hotel has its own
nightclub, Bruno's and a British -style
lounge as well as its dining room. A
walk of a few blocks will take you to
the Huron County Museum on North
St. There's a movie theatre right
across The Square and, if you want a
quiet walk, you can stroll down to
Lake Huron through the streets lined
with beautiful Victorian homes.
On the weekend of Feb. 8-9
Goderich's winter weekend will be
held with snow sculpting and ice skat-
ing in the Square, just across the
street. The Hotel also has a special
menu for St. Valentine's Day.
Although the old hotel echoes his-
tory, the rooms are modern and
include ensuite baths but are decorat-
ed with the traditions of the building
in mind.
Three Weekend Escape packages
are offered at the Bedford. The first
package offers two nights with dinner
each night, one breakfast and one
Sunday brunch and a complimentary
bottle of wine at a cost of $84.50 per
person for a room with one double
bed or $89.50 per person for a room
with two double beds.
The second package offers two
nights accommodation but only one
dinner for $71.50 and $76.50. The
third package, with one night's
accommodation, one dinner and one
breakfast or lunch is $44.50 and
$47.50.
