About people,
places and things
0 ne of the enjoyable things about living in, and
writing about, Western Ontario has always been
the fascinating people who live here and come
from here. This issue is a good example of what we
mean. Our feature story is about Seaforth native Lloyd
Eisler and his partner Isabelle Brasseur who are
seeking an Olympic medal at Albertville, France in
February. It's a story of achievement and
disappointment, highs and rock -hard determination as
told by Gregor Campbell.
Our business story features a Walton couple who
have decided to turn snow into a business opportunity
by offering snowmobile tours. And our People column
tells of some fascinating people that most people
outside their own communities, and even some in the
community, may not have known were in our region,
enriching our lifestyle.
And reader Adrian Vos tells the interesting story of
how he went half -way around the world to find his bride.
It must have been worth it because he and his wife Toni
have been together over 40 years.
Even our brides and romance section offers stories
about some interesting people and the choices
they made to have a wedding with a difference.
The same section shows us some of the interesting
places we may overlook right in our own backyard. We
may think of a vacation, or a weekend escape in terms
of a trip to some distant city but right in our own area we
have several places that offer weekend packages to
couples who want to put a little romance back in their
lives.
There's also interesting ways of celebrating winter.
The Grand Bend Winter Carnival hosts the Ontario
International Snow Sculpting Competition (and we've
got a story) while some people turn to snowmobiling for
their winter travel. And our What's Up section is filled
with interesting things to do and see.
And the winner is....
Congratulations to J. N. Paterson of 1-109 Kemp.
Cres., Stratford who won the weekend for two at the
Little Inn in Townsman's subscription contest.
Next time-
Spring is on the way and the urge to fix up your
house comes with it. Next time we'll have a
special home improvement and garden section
telling you about some of the special, locally made
items you can use to make your house just a little more
special.
Watch, too, for our special Townsman Diners' Club,
offering special savings for subscribers to Townsman
when they dine at several local establishments.
