150th anniversary of Huron County
and features a collection of contempo-

German Expressionist Prints, to
May 12, is a selection of works from
the Denner Wallace German Print Col-
lection, McMaster University. The
paintings, prints, sculptures and draw-
ings are characterized by a bold, often
aggressive or exaggerated execution.
Towards a Lyrical Abstraction, until
May 12, highlights the paintings, prints
and drawings of Lawrence Arthur Col-
ley Panton (1894-1954). The exhibi-
tion traces the artist's stylistic
evolution from the solid realism of his
figure and landscape paintings of the
1920s and 1930s, to the lyrical inter-
pretation of the landscape in the
1940s, and ending with the full fledged

abstractions of the late 1940s and
1950s.
Summer Season:
Festival Spotlight, focuses on the
Stratford Festival's 1990 season. It
captures visual highlights from last
year's productions, drawing attention
to the details of props, costuming, and
sets. A tribute to the talents of the Fes-
tival's designers and craftsman. From
May 28 to Oct. 30.
Doris McCarthy: Feast of Incarna-
tion: Doris McCarthy's career as an
artist has spanned 50 years and this
exhibition is the first major retrospec-
tive of her work, examining her career
in the context of major Canadian and
international art movements of this
century: the evolution of a painter.
