Christmas is a time that highlights
peace and good will, and the kind of
spirit shown by Hank Koskamp of
Ripley, who in our lead feature this
month describes his experiences work-
ing with disabled farmers in Africa.
!n lieu of payment for his contribution,
Hank asked that a donation be sent to
the Christian Blind Mission in Burkina
Faso. The Rural Voice is proud to
send the gift on his behalf.
We also look at two quite different
and successful — kinds of farmers,
the Drummonds of Millbank, who
raise dairy goats, and Neil Edgar of
Whitechurch, who cultivates Christ-
mas trees. For those yet aspiring to
the ownership of a productive farm,
writer Sarah Borowski examines the
provincial government's Farm -Start
program and tells us what's in the
back of the government's mind when
it comes to the structure of such
financial aid. And !an Wylie-Toal
continues to explore what's in the
back of the minds of agricultural
scientists as they work on projects of
benefit to the farming community.
A late -breaking feature story in
November was Rosanne Calhoun's
victory in the Queen's Guineas at the
Royal Winter Fair. You can read
