AWARD BANQUET
FOR PLOWMEN
Winners of the plowing competi-
tions will receive their awards at a ban-
quet September 18 at 7 p.m. in the Bay -
shore Community Centre, Owen Sound.
Top finishers and runners-up from
each of the five classes and ten groups
will share in the $35,000 prize money
donated by businesses and individuals.
More than 100 contestants from
across Ontario will compete in the
week-long plowing classes. The 1987
Queen of the Furrow will also be intro-
duced at the banquet.0
LADY GREY LANE
A BUSY STREET
The residents of Lady Grey Lane
have a full program in store, reports
Marjorie Davison, chairman of the
Ladies' Program at the IPM.
On September 15, they have the
Lady Grey herself visiting from Devon,
England.
Crafts on display include more than
70 quilts and wall hangings and demon-
strations of quilting and rug hooking.
Entertainment brings not only local
talent but the famous Little Sister Sing-
ers, the McMichael Sisters, the Cana-
dian Champion step dancer, Jeremy
Luxton, and Murray Fraser's Canadian
Champion Square Dancers.
In addition, there are fashion shows
and celebrity cooking scheduled daily.
Celebrity cooks on hand are Rose Mur-
ray, Dinah Christie, David Peterson, and
Miss Canada.
The horticulture department fea-
tures flower arranger Rob Dinsmore, the
history and culture of roses, and farm
and rural residential landscaping.
A daycare centre is on the site.0
CANADA'S BEST
AT THE MATCH
Canada's top female skateboarder
will be making her appearance at the
plowing match this year.
Sophie Bourgeois ranked fourth in
the female category at the 1986 Interna-
tional Skateboard Championships at
Expo in Vancouver. A four -time Cana-
dian champion, she will perform with
three other professional skateboarders .0
