THE RURAL VOICE IPM ISSUE
SHEILA GUNBY
Managing Editor
It gives me pleasure to introduce The Rural
Voice Grey County 1987 International Plowing
Match Special Edition in which we feature not
only the match itself, but the picturesque county
and its people. The match in Grey County this
year gives us a chance to mark the achievements
of a number of farm groups, rural organizations, and individuals,
from those directly involved in the IPM to those who have worked
so hard throughout the years to make Grey a remarkable county.
It is also a pleasure to introduce Mary -Lou Weiser Hamilton,
county editor for this special issue, who is well known to Grey
County and at The Rural Voice, to which she has contributed her
writing and agricultural experience for the past half dozen years.
MARY -LOU
WEISER-HAMILTON
County Editor
Mary -Lou Weiser -Hamilton,
county editor and chief con-
tributor to this special IPM
issue, operates a 150 -acre cow/
calf herd and sow-weaner farm
in Normanby Township, Grey
County with her husband
William. They have a 14 -
month -old son, Jonathan.
A member of Junior Farmers
for 13 years, she met William in
Northern Ireland on a Junior
Farmer exchange. One year
later (coincidentally?) he came
to Canada on similar exchange.
Mary -Lou also participated in the 1 lth International Conference
for the Promotion of Rural Youth which was held in Germany in
1982. There she met delegates from 44 developing countries. In
1984, she returned to the conference as a tutor.
A member of the Big Sisters Association, she is also a graduate
of the photography program at Conestoga College.
Mary -Lou is a member of the Publicity Committee for the Inter-
national Plowing Match in Grey.
