SCOTT ELECTED EGG
BOARD CHAIRMAN
Bill Scott of Seaforth has been
elected chairman of the Ontario Egg
Producers' Marketing Board by the
Board of Directors.
Farming since the mid-1960s,
he and his wife, Gwen, operate Scott
Poultry Farms Ltd., which includes a
custom hatchery, pullet facilities, and
15,000 laying hens. Prior to begin-
ning his farming career, Scott worked
as an engineer for the National Re-
search Council. He holds a Master of
Applied Science in Aeronautical Engin-
eering from the University of Toronto.
A director on the board for 10
years, Scott has represented Ontario
producers to the Canadian Egg Mar-
keting Agency for the past four years.
As chairman of the marketing board,
he replaces Jim Johnstone, an egg
producer from the Alliston area, who
served for 15 years in the position.
Johnstone continues to represent the
53 egg producers in Bruce, Grey,
Dufferin, Simcoe, and Muskoka.
Policies and operations of the
Ontario Egg Producers' Marketing
Board are the responsibility of 15
producer -elected directors. Of these, 13
are elected by egg producers in 13
zones and two are elected by pullet
producers. The chairman is elected for
a one-year term.0
CANADA PACKERS
RECEIVES $130,000
Canada Packers of Toronto will
receive $130,600 or 25 per cent of the
capital funding for a $522,400 project
at the Hoffman Kitchener plant.
The grant was awarded under the
provincial government's Marketing
Assistance Program for Pork (MAPP),
a five-year, $10 -million program
aimed at modernizing the processing of
Ontario hogs. MAPP provides a
quarter of total capital funding (up to
$2 million per project) in packing and
processing operations.
MAPP and the Ontario Pork Indus-
try Improvement Plan for producers are
both initiatives to improve the com-
petitiveness of the Ontario pork sector,
which has annual sales of $682
million at the farm level.0

Stock Manager.
Phil's knowledge comes from a wide range of practical
experience. He was born and raised on a hog, beef, and
cash crop farm. He has completed many 4-H projects and
judging competitions. Phil's selection and judging
abilities have taken him to many herds in Ontario,
Quebec, Nova Scotia, and the U.S. Phil has also had
nine years of experience with the Quality Swine Co-op.
Bodmin Ltd. Swine have a 250 -sow minimal disease
herd of Yorkshire, Landrace, Hampshire, and Duroc.
Philip's responsibilities will be in the area of
selection, sales, and service to Bodmin customers and
