In a bowl, beat
1/2 cup cooking oil
1 T. salt (heaping)
2 cups lukewarm water
1/4 cup sugar or honey
Add approximately 9 cups all-purpose
flour. Knead till floppy and moist.
Let rise until double in bulk (1 1/2
hours). Then roll out of bowl, cut in
half, and shape into two balls. Place
in two greased loaf pans. Let rise till
double in size (1 hour). Bake at 400
degrees for 30 to 40 minutes until
brown and hollow -sounding when
tapped. Remove from pan.0

BEEF EATERS?
"The best beef eaters," says
Margaret Zafiriou, economist with the
Food Markets Analysis Division of
Agriculture Canada, "are married and
have relatively high family incomes,
since both spouses are employed.
They have no children, are 45 to 64
years old, and live in Quebec. If
single, the man is under 45 years old,
but the single woman beef eater is 45
to 64 years old."
These conclusions come from a
study of meat consumption based on
food diaries and family composition
and income.
"The best pork eaters," says the
economist, "are also married but have
lower family incomes, since the wife
may not be employed. They have
children and live in Ontario where pork
is heavily promoted. Single men eat
more pork than single women do.rr0

University of Guelph horticulturalist .
Doug Ormrod, are appropriate even for
apartment dwellers. A south -facing
window or an inexpensive cool white
fluorescent light provides enough light
to grow leaf lettuce, head lettuce,
Chinese cabbage, and spinach as well
as onions, mustard, and beets (for their
leaves).
Vegetables grow more slowly
indoors and require fertilizer for nu-
trients, Ormrod says. The major cause
of failure in indoor gardening is over -
watering, he adds.0
