RESEARCH MAY
IMPROVE CLOVER
Canadian Pacific has awarded two
graduate students at McGill University
$11,000 a year each to develop better
strains of red clover.
Caroline Constabel, using bio-
technology to grow cell tissues in
Petri dishes, hopes that resulting
mutations will provide clones resistant
to root rot.
Lawrence Wolfraim will use DNA
research in an attempt to find red
clover cells more tolerant of drought,
cold, and other stresses.0
