County exhibits are another
example, he says. "We don't have
sections per se. The exhibition is a
partnership as opposed to
individualized."
A highlight of this area is the huge
mural depicting the three historic
matches in Huron as a backdrop to
the commodity display housed in
30,000 square feet.
Also working together to create
the picturesque courtyard
have been the Maitland
Valley and Ausable Bayfield
Conservation Authorities.
The fencing of the tented city
required 23,000 feet of snowfence,
about four miles. This was done in
one day by the tug-of-war teams
from Dashwood and area. "Six teams
all said, let's get together and get this
done," Craig explains.

accomplish something unique was
the artists featured on the IPM
Musicians
created CD
for the 1999
IPM
commemorative CD. Thirteen
diverse performers were selected to
be part of the project, many of whom
will make special appearances as part
of the match's entertainment.
The profits from the CD go to the
Huron County Children's Bureau.
"We wanted something new,
something novel, a promotion of
Huron County talent that would
benefit Huron County people. We are
trying to show variable aspects of life
in rural Ontario."
A brochure highlighting
specifically the entertainment is
available to help visitors plan. "When
there is so much to see people don't
want to miss too much," says Craig.
Though ingenuity and originality
keep things fresh, recognizing what
has been good in the past is also an
asset. "Bruce County had a great
Machines in Motion in 1993 and we
have revived that for this match,"
said Craig. With equipment from
1919, 1959 and 1999, there will be
some "pretty impressive stuff" being
put to work on 200 acres of cropland
to demonstrate and showcase those
