The Rural Voice, 1999-04, Page 78People Jayne Dietrich wins Cooper Award Jayne Dietrich, who combined her interests in agriculture and education was named the 1999 winner of the Tommy Cooper Award for contribution to agriculture in Grey and Bruce Counties. Dietrich, who farms with her hus-band Ralph at R.R.3, Mildmay helped found the Roots of Bruce educational program to give school children a hands-on experience in agriculture. Prior to that she was a member of the educational committee for the 1993 International Plowing Match at Walkerton and has been involved with Agriculture in the Classroom. She has also been active in the Holstein Committee. She is currently first vice- president of the Bruce County Federation of Agriculture. She said she had worked with most of the other nominees and knew they were deserving, she said. Diemert, is a past president of the Normandby Township Federation of Agriculture and a past vice-president of the Grey County Federation of Agriculture. She was chairman of the Grey County Milk Committee for three years. During the 1980s she served as a Family Farm Advisor. She has also been involved in Agriculture in the Classroom, Catholic Rural Life Association and local 4-H work. Rose, who worked in agricultural extension for nearly 40 years with OMAFRA and in Ghana, will receive a Distinguished Agrologist Award. He has also received recognition from the Canadian Society of Extension for his ability to identify client needs, his vision to develop programs to address those needs and his leadership and communications skills. Also receiving a distinguished agrologist award will be Thomas Ansley of Nepean. Alexander Connell of Palmerston will be given an honorary lifetime membership. His successful farm operation specializes in seed production and a large beef feedlot. He has also contributed time and talent to the boards of Junior Farmers, Ontario Cattlemen's Association, the Ontario and Canadian Seed Growers' Associations, the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame and as a shareholder in First Line Seeds. Also to receive life memberships are Don McCutcheon of Shelburne, owner of the only nucleus flock of Rideau Arcotts. McCutcheon has contributed to 4-H work for 41 years and has pursued advanced agricultural technologies and James House of Port Stanley.°
