The Rural Voice, 1999-03, Page 21ROPS CAN SAVE LIVES Tractors are the number one killer in the farm workplace. Rollovers account for about half of fatal tractor accidents and are responsible for many disabling injuries. The majority of deaths in these overturn accidents would not have happened if the tractors had been equipped with rollover protective structures. (ROPS) ROPS are available as protective steel frames, or quiet, dust -proof cabs. Many manufactures offer retrofit ROPS for most of their older models. When you purchase a ROPS make sure it meets performance criteria established by the Canadian Standards Association. A homemade ROPS is not recommended.
