County Federation of Agriculture NEWSLETTER
Drought plagues Ontario
Ed Segsworth, president of the
Ontario Federation of Agriculture is
concerned about the lack of rainfall
in many areas of Ontario.
"In many counties reports arc
coming in regarding very acute
circumstances" says Segsworth.
• Farmers are being forced to cull
their livestock herds due to feed
shortage
• Cattle are being fed from winter
supplies because there is no pasture
land
• Ponds and water wells arc at
dangerously low levels
The OFA president plans to tour
some of the hardest hit counties. "I
want to talk with our members who
are suffering through this drought and
assure them that OFA is aware of
their problems. As well, I want to
meet with local federation directors
to discuss the details of the situation,"
says Segsworth.
