OFA President Ed Segsworth toured Huron and Perth counties on Thursday, March 26, 1998. He attended a "kitchen"
meeting at the home of Bob and Pat Down of Usborne Township in the morning where about a dozen neighbouring farmers
gathered to talk with Ed of their concerns. Following the kitchen meeting, Ed met for lunch with Huron County Directors at
the Blue Fountain Restaurant in Clinton. Shown above are left w right: Charles Regele, second vice-president HCFA; OFA
President Ed Segsworth; Dave Linton, HCFA Director; Wayne Hamilton, HCFA Director; Stephen Thompson, HCFA Past
President; Peter Canning, OFA Executive Liaison to Huron County; and Henry Boot, HCFA President. Ed moved on to
Perth County for an afternoon meeting with the Perth County Federation.
On Saturday, April 4, 1998 the annual MP -MPP luncheon sponsored by the
Huron Federation of Agriculture was held at Ontario Street United Church in
Clinton beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. MP Paul Steckle was
present, however, due to illness, MPP Helen Johns was unable to attend. Her
assistant Kriss Snell was present in her place. Commodity reps, reeves of several
townships/towns, and Huron Federation Executive and Directors attended the
gathering and discussed concerns of mutual interest to all.
