The Rural Voice, 1997-07, Page 27what sites are right for you is to just
spend a few hours and surf the 'Net.
You'll be surprised what kind of
information you'll find.
Caffeine - http:llwww.caffeine.ca
This is a fairly new site for
Canadian agriculture. This site is
basically an index for Canadian
websites. It is a comprehensive list
of differetlt pages, ranging from
company to government sites. It also
has the ability to allow you to add a
site that you think should be listed. It
also has chat areas so that you can
talk to other farmers in real-time and
a place where you can read or list
advertisements. Another good thing
about this site is that it is in an easy
to use and an easy to read format, an
excellent feature if you plan to spend
a few hours just surfing the 'Net.
Agriculture Online
http..11www.agriculture.com
This site is part of Successful
Farming and is fantastic. One the
most outstanding features the site has
to offer is that it has chat rooms
dedicated to specific topics such as
livestock, machinery, marketing, and
technology. It also has articles on
various agricultural topics, weather
reports, market updates and the latest
information on agricultural
technology. As with Caffeine, this
site has a very easy to use and read
format.
Other sites:
The Ontario Cattlemen's
Association has been gathering and
co-ordinating most of the cattle,
sheep, goat and weaner pig reports
with the information available
directly through a live sales phone
service or indirectly through various
farm publications, media and radio
stations. Recently the OCA began
making this information available on
the Internet. The Internet address is:
http: llcattle.guelph.on.ca
OMAFRA has made it easier for
pork producers to get swine industry
information with an expanded and
categorized version of its Swine
page. When you go to the swine page
there are two options "Pork News
and Views" and "Hog Links". To
explore a list of sites, choose "Hog
Links" and choose an interest area
including Animal care/Behaviour and
Breeding and Genetics.
