buildings to using their own, the
move made sense.
The cost of the leased MNR
building could not be rationalized,
said Bennett.
The MNR invested two years'
worth of leasing money to build a
600 -square -foot addition to the
OMAFRA office. Now both
ministries are using the same
building.
Dan Carlow, field services
manager for OMAFRA, said that
aside from better use of the Clinton
office space, this is the first time that
two government ministries have
shared reception, administration and
other such office services.
Both Bennett and Carlow see this
move as cost effective and, slice
both ministries have many of the
same clients, beneficial to those who
use the ministries.
"If a farmer wants information
about soils, drainage and a fish
habitat on his property, he can now
find it in one place," said Bennett.
"Though we have separate
mandates, we both deal with
resource-based matters, landowners,
rural issues and the urban impact on
good farmland. The co -habitation of
the ministries will lead to mord local
initiative in community projects,"
said Carlow.°
Ontario Pork
presents forward
pricing program
The Ontario Pork Producers'
Marketing Board (OPPMB) will
offer Ontario hog producers a new
forward price contract alternative
effective June 2, 1997. Producers will
be able to sell hogs for delivery in a
future month at a predetermined
price, assessed for basis on the day of
delivery The offer price is
determined from the Chicago

futures contract.
"Generation II Marketing is a
collection of marketing concepts that
assist the producer in reducing risk
and provides alternatives to market
