* FARM ACCOUNTING USING QUICKBOOKS SOFTWARE
These sessions focus on the process of developing a useful set of computerized books from start to finish - customizing the chart of accounts,
entering transactions and designing reports for use. This course is scheduled to run Feb. 4. 5, 11, 12.
Other courses that may run if enough interest is shown are:
• WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN YOU COMPUTERIZE:
This would be a two -evening course with sessions for those who are either considering purchasing a computer or already have one but need basic
instruction in care and usage. You'll learn what to look for in hardware, the terminology and about current software available.
• COMPUTER CARE & FILE MANAGEMENT:
This one -evening session deals with the issues of taking care of your computer, confidentiality and backups and using either DOS or the File
Manager to manage your files.
• AN INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET:
This two -afternoon course demonstrates how you can use the Internet in your business and shows you how to get started. There will be
demonstrations as well as hands-on exercises using Netscape.
Also some interest has been shown for a Marketing course and also an Animal Issues and Action course as well as Understanding Your Farm
Income Taxes. If anyone else is interested please let us know.

The Ontario Agricultural Training Institute, a not-for-profit corporation, is a self-help training initiative devoted to farmers managing change through
improved farm business management practices. OATI was established in 1989 by the Ontario Federation of Agriculture
in cooperation with the public, private, and non-profit sectors of the agricultural industry.

Designed to help farm families develop a plan to
transfer the ownership and control of the farm
business to the next generation. An accountant will
explain the tax implications and how to minimize the
tax liability. Legal concerns and agreements to
protect everyone's interest will be discussed by a
lawyer. The transfer process and the benefits of
partnerships and corporations will also be
discussed. Cost: $45.00 (includes lunch & reference
binder, second family member, $20.00).
