2 THE RURAL VOICE
Feedback
Picture, errors
bring humour
As children, we used to catch field
mice and put them in a pail. They
would be tasty treats for the cats later.
Once, one of the mice became a
mother while in the pail and when I
picked her up by the tail, all the
nursing babies were hanging on to
her.
I was reminded of this when I saw
the picture of the pigs on page 24 of
the May 1996 issue of The Rural
Voice.
That was just what the mice
looked like! But how, I wondered,
could this happen with such heavy
animals as pigs.
I read the caption that explains
that this system provides a "save
contented environment for mother
and little as well". Perhaps if I was a
pig farmer I would understand what
that meant.
It seems to me that at any moment
the poor little piglets will start
dropping off.0

History committee
seeks stories
I am chairing a committee which
has been researching and
documenting the history of North
Easthope Township in Perth County.
The first settler came to our township
in 1832 and as with many areas, there
have been families who moved
elsewhere. In order to make our book
complete, we wish to contact as many
people as possible who would have
any ties with our township. As you
