They would be tasty treats for the cats later. Once, one of the mice became a mother while in the pail and when I picked her up by the tail, all the nursing babies were hanging on to her. I was reminded of this when I saw the picture of the pigs on page 24 of the May 1996 issue of The Rural Voice. That was just what the mice looked like! But how, I wondered, could this happen with such heavy animals as pigs. I read the caption that explains that this system provides a "save contented environment for mother and little as well". Perhaps if I was a pig farmer I would understand what that meant. It seems to me that at any moment the poor little piglets will start dropping off.0 Rick Neilson RR 1, Stratton, Ont. ED. History committee seeks stories I am chairing a committee which has been researching and documenting the history of North Easthope Township in Perth County. The first settler came to our township in 1832 and as with many areas, there have been families who moved elsewhere.
