Grain Markets
opinion that the USDA will be
adjusting their reports until next
summer. Maybe they think the truth
will be too much to bear.
My thoughts about the market
direction have not changed and won't
until there is a fundamental change
either in the form of lower domestic
usage or a slowing of exports.
Last month, I figured a "no" vote
in Quebec would lead to a higher
Canadian dollar. However, the Bank
of Canada governor has decided that
lower interest rates are more
important to the Canadian economy
than foreign investment and, as a
result, Canadian interest rates are
now lower than U.S. rates. Only time
will tell if lower interest rates will
stimulate our economy and lower
government borrowing costs or do
neither.
Producers are seeing the best
commodity prices in years and it
would be prudent to keep selling a
portion of their production. Don't try
to hit a home run, be willing to settle
for a double or a triple. The present
price scenario is great, use it to
protect the future.0
