down a twisty narrow road. I have
walked its dusty — or muddy pathways,
I have been accosted by the multitude
of local mongrels, whose bark was
always worse than their bite, I have
greeted and been greeted by smiling
work -worn women carrying huge loads
of laundry on their heads, I have
passed the irregular garden plots with
the exotic dasheen leaves and scrawny
corn, I have taken refreshment at the
local "rum shop" while joking with
local youths who were similarly
engaged before they departed to the
reef for a morning's fishing.
Grenadian greetings still echo in my
head — "hello, good momin"' —
"mawnin' sir" — " good mornin'
Pappy".
When I think about the feedlots
populated with thousands of cattle and
combines that cost over two hundred
thousand dollars, when I think of our
cities covering millions of acres of the
earth with concrete, I also think of
Content.0
