John Gaunt and Joe Gibson will attend a workshop in Guelph November 3 on the ecological impact of the Ontario Weed Act, purpose of meeting . . . to arrive at recommendations for any changes that may be needed. ... 1995 budgct was presented along with Strategic Plans for '95 for the Federation ... to be presented at Annual meeting. ... an OFA member was present with a problem he had recently incurred obtaining a rebate of the eight per cent Ontario Retail Sales Tax applicable to a recently installed manure handling/disposal system. The Federation supports his appeal because we believe this project is a manure handling/disposal system which appears to be eligible for a rebate of the eight per cent tax, rather than a building, which is not eligible. The Federation has since pursued this matter to the Provincial level, both with OFA and Paul Klopp. . . . of this discussion the following resolution was sent to OFA for presentation at the Annual Convention in November, 1994: "WHEREAS 1) the Province of Ontario levies an eight per cent Retail Sales Tax on material purchased to construct manure storage structures. 2) Farm owners construct these facilities, in large part, at their own expense, for the benefit of the rest of society, insofar as these structures reduce pollution and/or enhance environmental conditions for all residents of Ontario.
